Amazon.com is going to have a little bit of explaining to do after customer ratings for LGBTQ-themed books began disappearing and they removed the literature from searches and lists.
According to Amazon:
"In consideration of our entire customer base, we exclude "adult" material from appearing in some searches and best seller lists. Since these lists are generated using sales ranks, adult materials must also be excluded from that feature.

Amazon messed up - but it was with their response, AND their inane ratings system that allows a few flags to take a book off of the best seller list. I'm an employee of Amazon. com and I do have this to say about this post. I'm an out lesbian and have many gay co-workers, we have partnership benefits plus we are accepted by all. We have every kind of literature anyone and everyone could ever want, I doubt taking anything off of the website or search engine there is a reason.

I am in awe of the people leaving comments. Particularly what they are saying. Every published author, whether they write gay or straight books, should be able to track their books sales rank. And what better place than Amazon.com, which carries almost a fair amount of published books? The real reason hasn't been determined yet, but after being part of, and following the #amazonfail on Twitter last night, I'm glad that there are more people out there that think this is a huge mistake and it should be corrected IMMEDIATELY. But how can a simple 'glitch' have started more than three months ago and go almost complete unnoticed and unfixed, despite Amazon being contacted by authors who sales rank disappeared back in February? Something just doesn't add up… and I'm happy that #amazonfail was able to get the word out.
