Stupid of her, even if it isn't a great film, it is still the most high profile movie she would have been in since….well since American Pie 2. You can't afford to be picky when nobody is calling. My guess is that she just didn't want to play her age.
Oh Wait, I thought this was going to be an ACTUAL sequel, but from this qote in the article it doesn't seem like it. It looks more like another straight to video crap-fest. I'm pretty sure there aren't any of the old cast members from american pie in this new one. Its being filmed in Vancouver, I know a few of the extras and by the sounds of it, a couple of the only 'famous' faces will be Eugene Levy, and Bug Hall (Alfalfa from The Little Rascals).
