File-Sharing Giants Sentenced To Prison!
The founders of one of the largest file-sharing sites on the web, The Pirate Bay, are going to prison!!
Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Peter Sunde Kolmsioppi, Fredrik Neij and Carl Lundstrom were all found guilty of copyright infringement in a Stockholm court yesterday.
The four founders were slapped with a one-year prison sentence and ordered to pay £2.4 million in damages to record label giants!!!
Does this mean the death of torrents and illegal file-sharing as we know it????
Kolmsioppi reassured uses of The Pirate Bay via his Twitter that "Nothing will happen to TPB [The Pirate Bay], us personally or file-sharing whatsoever. This is just a theatre for the media."
The guilty parties are expected to appeal the verdict and will be holding a press conference to discuss their sentencing in Stockholm later today.

Because here in Sweden it's your legal RIGHT to appeal so no matter what, it WILL be another trial beacuse the law gives them the right to one.

They will probably serve a one or two month-sentence and they dont have to pay SHIT.
Jail is even too harsh of a sentence, the only reason why this is the sentence is because of U.S pushing :]
They will appeal, trials will go on forever, pirates will win.

Pirate Bay ruins lots of artists' careers because they can't make a living out of it when people _steal_ their music. It's not that expensive to buy it legally, and ultimately we will loose a lot of good artists because they will not survive in the business. Jai to the sentence!

In Sweden, if you kill somebody, the damage you have to pay to the victims family is about 30 000 USD. One woman who's two children were murdered by her boyfriends ex even got 30 000 for both children because the court thougt that her suffering was not bigger for two children than fore one child (she appealed and it was overthrown thank heaven!). So killing, raping and fucking children doesn not render that much, BUT GOD HAVE MERCY IF YOU MESS WITH SOMEONES MONEY!
The problem isn't with sites such as The Pirate Bay but within the 'legal' industry. If they would lower their ridiculously high profit margins, perhaps more people would be inclined to go about things legally.
But honestly; even if The Pirate Bay had been shut down, another one would have appeared the following day.

The Pirate Bay is just like Google.. Type in a films name + torrent on google and you will get the link… So why dont the music/film industry go after Google? If they really care.. they should go after Google and other major companies.. Insted they go on the little guys who doesnt even share the actual content of the files..
However, they are allowed to appeal due to swedish law.. and swedish laws are far more human than the american.
I'm glad they're appealing. I hope they get acquitted. They will get acquitted. In the US they wouldn't though. The US has ridiculously strict laws on file sharing, and drinking, and drugs, and other things…

So lame. This is like when the music industry flipped out and were actually suing random individuals for trading MP3s and stuff.
