"I believe that computers have taken over the world. I believe that they have in many ways ruined our children. I believe that kids used to love to go out and play. I believe that social graces are gone because manners are gone because all people do is sit around and text. I think it's obnoxious."

- Stevie Nicks tells the Associated Press

I'm sure your parents felt the same way when you chatted up your friends on the tele after school…evolve already!

    2. 102

She's right. Nothing she said was dumb. It's true. The internet is ruling over our lives. People have even killed themselves over things others write on the internet. It's crazy.

    3. 103

I 100% agree b/c that's ALL my teen daughter does. Computer and text!! More texting then anything. When her friends are over,, They are ALL texting as well!!
Not each other though.. lol Cause I asked.

    4. 104

      agree'd , she is correct !

    5. 105

      She is right.

    6. 106

i agree stevie! it is obnoxious & lacking manners. there is a time & a place for it. the worse offenders are people that eschew face to face communication to text ad nauseum — at parties even! boring.

God people are stupid. Folks why do you think kids sit inside on computers and such? Use your heads. The reason is this: When I was a kid my mom could just open the door and shove me outside by myself. I could run around the neighbourhood all day and nobody worried. If you sent your kids outside to play by themselves today you'd be shot for child endangerment! THE WORLD HAS CHANGED!!!

You can't just send your kids outside to play anymore. There are too many dangerous people around. If you sent your child out to play by themselves and something happened to them rest assured they'd be comming with a cop car to take you away.

Most people who are actually parents know this, but someone like Stevie Nicks who has NO CHILDREN should really not make parenting judgments on others. I work full time for a pittance and Stevie nicks opens her mouth and makes millions of dollars! Please woman, don't compare yourself to me!

It wasn't my generation that put the earth in such bad condition. My generation may be assholes, but at least we didn't bring the world to the brink of destruction.

    10. 110

      well said stevie.
the effect's not just w/ the kids though. it's affected everyone.
cell phones have changed the general etiquette. how many times have you wanted to smack the phone out of someone's hand when they pick it up and proceed to gab to someone else throughout dinner? or gab way too frickin loud walking down the street?

heya Stevie, Biblically - high end technology is part of the 'final days'.

My kids got on computers around age 12 and the schools are now putting them in front of computers as well.
I feel my kids were well grounded and had solid values before I would put them in front of a computer. My kids and me still communicate and enjoy each other as well.
You do have make an excellent point but I have seen that computers can enhance…my kids are reading and typing all the time. My kids are excellent students as well.

It's all in how you do it baby!lol

      Luv ya Stevie!

      ITA

    15. 115

She sure has been cranky lately. Maybe she needs to get back on the klonopin.

    16. 116

I love Stevie even more now…

    17. 117

wow…stevie nicks used to be cool but all she does anymore is complain about "these kids today!" cue the old voice

    18. 118

Maybe Stevie lost too many brain cells when she was filled with drugs for so many years and can't work the computer and/or do text messages like the rest of us! Ha Ha!!!!!

Plus, she’s not a mother—where does she get off talking about any generation but her own messed up, coked up generation!!!!!

In one month, she will be a 61-year-old granny—yet she never became a mother, so she will never be a grandmother either! She’s lucky she didn’t kill herself doing all those drugs when she was “enjoying the great outdoors”!

    20. 120

I completely agree. Computers are useful in many different respects, but they should not be used as electronic babysitters. They are the reason kids are fat, lazy and disobedient.

    21. 121

STEVIE needs her own talk show. Seriously. She is right on the money here and on other issues as well. Children who are raised to play outside, go fishing, climb trees, build mud cakes, etc. are a thing of the past and it's SAD. Technology is great but it is taking away the soul of man, so to speak. For the children who are raised to still do these things, they are lonely, for most children want to sit inside and vegetate in their chat room or on their Wii. So sad.

    22. 122

True - kids can't stand to be bored for a second. Electronic devices have replaced day dreams and imaginations.

    23. 123

I think GOOGLE is my friend. I think your voice sucks and you're fat…
