Imagine the courage it took to answer honestly when asked a controversial question by someone vehemently opposed to her.
Granted, she could have answered as Perez Hilton suggested, but his answer didn't actually answer the question he posed. He asked whether she thought other states should follow suit and she answered "no" albeit slightly inarticulate. His response would have avoided a real answer for a lie - "if they want"

Miss California stated (I'm paraphrasing here) that she was expressing HER OWN PERSONAL VIEWS. The fact that her views are not in-line with EVERYONE does not create the occasion for her to be insulted.

Miss California stated (I'm paraphrasing here) that she was expressing HER OWN PERSONAL VIEWS. The fact that her views are not in-line with EVERYONE does not create the occasion for her to be insulted for hers.
Bottom line, if we want TOLERANCE, we have to BE TOLERANT. Not everyone shares the same views, and they don't have to. They also shouldn't have to censor themselves to please others.
I personally think it was an unfair question. No matter which side she took, she would have upset some one.
I give her credit for sticking to her beliefs and keeping her integrity instead of simply succumbing to conformity.

I am a strong advocate for tolerance. But what does "tolerance" mean? Is it accepting the fact that other people have different views and respecting them as human beings despite whether or not you agree with their views? OR is it conformity?
I personal believe it is the former. Naturally, I believe it to be gravely wrong to persecute and insult people for their beliefs, but that being said I think it is also wrong to persecute/insult someone for sticking to their beliefs and not conforming to their own. *I am not saying that you are "persecuting" Miss California but she was been getting insulted for maintaining her integrity and not lying and this is what I'm arguing against as I think it is wrong.

Where is your tolerance for those who fundamentally disagree with same sex marriage? There are 17 states that passed laws against it in America, and I don't see why Carrie Prejan is unable to voice her opinion without being labeled as a poor representative of this country. Why does it appear she is being deprived of the Miss USA title, because she failed to support your views and values? If your opinion does not represent the only way America thinks, what gives you the right to tell her she is a poor candidate? Who made you the authority on the subject? Thank you so much for asking Miss California the question on gay marriage. It was very refreshing to finally see such courage on display in the face of adversity. Her answer showed tens of millions of people what it is to be Christian. I for one think that because of you and that question perhaps thousands (if not more) will want to know what a genuine Christian is and many, many will find Jesus on the way. Much like the Pharaoh of Egypt, the living God has used you in a wonderful and powerful way to bring many to Him. You may not agree or even believe in a God, but that is really irrelevant. He loves you anyway.
