Jackie Chan Thinks The Chinese Should Be Controlled!

wenn1793297chan.jpg

Get a load of this fuckery!

Legendary kung fu hero Jackie Chan was a panelist at the Boao Forum on Saturday in China and, boy, did the actor let the moronic comments fly!

Said Chan of the Chinese people: "I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want."

Oh, really now???

Nobody will find that offensive, no!

Jackie, originally from Hong Kong, also has beef with the youth of China, believing that "they like other people's things. They don't like their own things."

And the icing on the cake? "If I need to buy a TV, I'll definitely buy a Japanese TV. A Chinese TV might explode," said Chan.

Yikes!!

Do U take offense to the kung fu star's comments???

wow perez, do u even know anything about China and the Chinese gov't ?
I'm Chinese and im not offended. You Americans think you know everything. It's hilarous.

    2. 102

maybe he knows something we dont!!!!

    3. 103

Perez, he said more than that. He also claimed that Hong Kong and Taiwan are societies that are out of control. WTF?

    4. 104

I've always been taught that if TV's do anything, they IMplode, not EXplode.

    5. 105

I'm of Chinese descent also. I'm not offended, I actually understand where he's coming from. The Chinese people should take his comment and think about what they can do to improve on those things.

Jackie Chan mentioned the tainted baby formulas and was really saddened that babies had to die and get sick because of bad Chinese products. And btw, those babies that got sick but did survive the tainted milk "scandal", …. they have to undergo dialysis of their kidneys all throughout their life.

I'm not condoning communism or some of their violent methods. I don't think Jackie Chan is either. He's just saddened by what's happened to a culture that had a great history, philosophy, morality, honor and culture. I do think that the communist party is partly to blame for what's evolved. But until the Chinese people learn to discipline themselves, someone else will have to do it for them.

i dont take offense yet but i might when china takes us all over soon and then imight of wished i bought a japanese tv

OMG all those people writing and saying they are Chinese and they agree with what Chan said: Bull. I know how the Chinese feel about China, they are very proud of their country or ex-country and they would never approve of that man's nasty comments (unless he was joking). China will soon be the Master of the World, might as well get used to the idea. Start learning to speak Mandarin NOW ! And stop the absurd propaganda about tainted this and tainted that, that is done on purpose to be a nuisance to the booming Chinese economy. VivA China !

i'm singaporean chinese and i agree with jackie…

There is a lot of controversy about Jackie Chan saying that he thought that the people of China needed to be controlled and was unsure about people having freedom. I thought it was a weird thing to say as well, but then I realized that he was in mainland China, giving a speech to a group of businessmen who liked what he said. Considering that the Chinese government can make decisions that can affect if his movies are available or even open in the country, of course, he is going to take a neutral position. I think people forget that he grew up in Hong Kong before the Chinese takeover and his parents worked at the American Embassy in Canberra, so it seems to me he was playing the situation in a rather smart way. He knew the audience, knew what sort of comment would play well and basically did what he needed to do for his career in mainland China.

I'm 1/4 Chinese, the rest is Vietnamese and I do not find this offensive at all. English is not his primary language so he's not exactly well spoken. But it's our culture and I understand what he means. The Chinese think they own everything and everyone. (Tibet? Vietnam?) They don't stop to consider whether we feel the same (we don't). So they'll march right on in with their huge army and bust some skulls claiming to unify when really they just want more people to be the work force feeding their greed.

Does marching in Tibet, exiling their spiritual leader, forcing monks to have sex, cutting lines of communication to the outside world sound right to you?

As for exploding televisions… China is known for producing cheap plastic toys (which double as date rape drugs) and Japan is known for being pretty techie so.. I dunno.. duh?

I usually agree with Perez on a multitude of things. This however, needs re-evaluation.

China has a population of HOW many people, home to some of the brightest people. Obviously in order to survive there has to be corruption to some level or other. I think it will be the next big powerful country so yes i do agree.

AND BTW a lot of the products from China, and a lot of 3rd world products for that matter, are filled with toxic chemicals - no wonder everyone has cancer here. They don't really care if you get sick they know you will buy whatever is the cheapest. And with so many people labour is more available that fresh water.

    12. 112

ehh, not reallyy. i love him, he is awesomee (:

    13. 113

      nope. no offense.

    14. 114

im chinese from the MAINLAND and i think Jackie's comments are okay since he's not insulting China but i totally do not appreciate what some idiots have commented on this site. yeah its one thing to criticise the government, which is okay (since the Chinese government is definitely not 100% at the moment but at least its slowly improving ) but to say you hate the Chinese because they smoke.. wtf?!?! so noone smokes in the US? is that what you're saying? to "suhrenuh" wtf are you talking about, the asians are fuking up the world??! everyone is fuking up the world don't freaking use asia as a scapegoat. yeah mainland China has alot of social problems, people live in poor social circumstances yeah and what? what about the rest of the world? there's bloody corruption in every country. stop complaining, why don't you guys do something to help those poor Chinese people instead of blaming them for being born?

fuk half you people disgust me, especially because you aren't even from mainland China. you say things like, my friend from Taiwan/HK or whatever. there are clearly political/social problems between China and those places so you think you're gonna get a proper description? you're saying if you go over to Iraq the people are gonna be worshiping the US?! yeah some Chinese products may break after a few days but so do things made in other countries. you can't guarantee perfection for God's sake. and don't YOU forget that alot of things are made in China, including batteries and many other things that allow YOU to enjoy your every day life. i don't like all this looking down on China attitude, it just shows how bloody narrowminded some people are. and to "adiorablex3", you say your Taiwanese and that China is really corrupt?! hello… your 'ex-president' Chen Shui Bian was a bloody embarrassment! God people, STOP LOOKING DOWN ON CHINA AND GIVE IT A BLOODY OPPORTUNITY TO GROW INTO SOMETHING GREAT! God! i'm not saying China is a bloody utopia or something and im not advocating its horrendous government but at least its improving and i'm proud of that. i hope to one day make enough money so i can go over to China and help people over there and hopefully by then the government would have improved even more.

Perez, you're not Asian so you probably do not know what he is targetting at. Don't take his words at face value because there is a lot of truth in it if you know what's been going on in China or even Asia for that matter. China is rising fast but their products is still inferior compared to Japan or Korea. I agree with Jackie, being an Asian myself I have access to both Japanese, American or Chinese branded electronic goods. Without fail I will choose Japanese, just because it is superior.

What's there to take offense when he speaks the truth? Do U know how badly a good percentage of babies across Asia were affected by the Melamine incident? Have U read reports of Chinese branded TVs exploding?
