You can't alienate your audience, especially if you're competing for the title of MISS USA! You need to represent the people, not just YOUR beliefs.

i dont understand pageants. they are just extremely "attractive" younger 20 something women and their primmed and accurately memorized "correct" answer to their entertainment capabilities. what has miss usa or any pageant winner really done to help? use their good looks for free opportunities to support and travel and help out other causes? who would pass up on those opportunities except for those trying not to put these good chances on some sort of resume, later to move onto some other job.

If she had given a different answer (in support of gay marriage), her critics would have never been heard because the liberal media would not give voice to any opposing critique. CIVIL union is a legal contract between two people regarding domestic partnership, again the government has no legal right to target a specific group to pass a law. Her beliefs are hers by right as yours are yours, but neither of you have the right to infringe on the others right. Two consenting adults have the right to their own privacy.
