Oprah Cancels Columbine Show

It was 10 years to the day since the horrible school shootings at Columbine took place. And in memory of all that happened, Oprah Winfrey was planning on airing a special episode today titled, 10 Years Later: The Truth about Columbine.
However, the episode which was going to take a look back at the shootings in Columbine has been canceled.
And Oprah has addressed the situation on her Twitter.
Says Miz Winfrey:
"I decided to pull the Columbine show today. After reviewing it, I thought it focused too much on the killers. Today, hold a thought for the Columbine community. This is a hard day for them."
We still love ya O!
And our thoughts go out to all of those affected by the horrible event that took place a decade ago.

I remember hearing about the shotting while being a senior in Illinois. I now live by Columbine…… very sadding to even see the school.
If it focused too much on the killers, why not change the focus?
Let us no longer exploit the dead, their friends and families by couching these so-called memorials, all the while charging $250,000 for a 30 second spot on your show, Oprah.
It would be nice to see cable news follow this lead.

I was affected by it and think it is good for things like this to not be forgotten. We should celebrate life and remember this day and cherish the ones we love. Not dwell in the bad but rise above it. There are other ways to remember days like this rather than going into the grusome details about the killings.
OOOOOOOHHH SHIT, did she almost make a show about something with meaning that teetered on the brink of controversial, Cant have that. Better get back to making shows about how unemployed, fat, housewives can find deeper inner meaning thru knitting! GUTLESS! The show would only have focused on the killers if she made it focus on the killers!

@justtfax that is why she canceled it. She didn't want to talk about the killers so much, she wanted to focus more on the lives lost and how to remember them positively.
Also, you can't change the focus of something that was pre-recorded, and ready to go with only a few hours til air time.

i probably would have watched that even though i don't like oprah. and this morning i saw something on it that talked about the killers but also had a survivor. if tshe was willing to go on some crappy news thing then she prob. would've gone on oprah. why didnt they do something like that?

I am kind of glad she didn't air the show today, first off we need to end our fixation with Columbine. It is tradgic and sad and we should respect the familys that lost someone and leave the subject alone for awhile. I live about 45 minutes away from there and have friends that went there at the time, that don't want to re-live it every yr or morn on it anymore. I understand for Colorado to morn on it but the rest of America needs to get over it, those people will all be in our hearts and prays forever no matter what we do.

i was very disappointed when she pulled the show, i had also been looking forward to watching it. its sad how she is so weak.
Time moves by so fast, and before we know it, it'll be 50 years since the tragedy happened.
I think it was a little ignorant of her to do that. Some of us were looking forward to seeing the show about Columbine.
There were FIFTEEN victims that day and to pull the show claiming it was too much about the killers was stupid as they were tormented and also died too.
She could have changed it and made the show so it was more about gun control or the memorial that has taken nearly ten years to build or the school as it is today…there were many different angles to go for. She has lost her touch. She forgets where she began, she was the female black jerry springer. Now she's just doing a show for stay at home mums who want to learn how to scrapbook baby photos.
