Stephen Hawking Hospitalized In England, It's Serious

Sad, sad news.
Stephen Hawking has fallen extremely ill and was hospitalized at a Cambridge hospital near London on Monday.
The world renowned mathematician and theoretical physicist has been "unwell for a couple of weeks" with a chest infection, according to sources close to the former professor.
The 67-year-old Hawking was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease at 21 and in turn has been almost fully paralyzed for years now.
Our thoughts are with Hawking and his family in this difficult time.

This is sad. If he dies the world will have lost a great mind, its people like Hawking that make the world a better place. My thought are, ofcourse, with the family.

:( I had a grandfather who died from the same disease within months of being diagnosed 35+ years ago, before I was ever born. It is amazing that he has lived with this so long. His body has never kept him prisoner; his mind has always allowed him to be free.

Hawking's great, as are his books. He's HELL to sit thru' whilst he lectures, but, other than that? When this one goes, the world will have lost a true One-off!

Sad news indeed. We'd all like to think that geniuses like him are immortal, but unfortunately, no one is. Well, should he die soon, at least he'll have left an extremely valuable legacy behind him. Feel better, Mr. Hawking.

I can't believe he's survived so long with that disease. He's really something else. I wish him a speedy recovery. The man is brilliant beyond words.
Damn perez, i applaud you for posting this. This man as we all know proved the existence of a God via math among so many many more things, brilliant mind, but he deserves to be at rest…
He has had ALS for almost his entire life, feeling better isn't much of an option.
he has already outlived all the odds for his disease and has been very lucky to get as old has he has.
Probably due to his enate stobberness.

I can't believe this…my Dad died of ALS within 2 years of being diagnosed. I've never heard of anyone living this long with it!

hey perez, do YOU even know who Stephen Hawking is, other then seeing cartoons of him on Family Guy and others. Stephen the world has been blessed with your genius. I pray for your recovering, though how hard it might be. Life has be hard for him in the last few years, it might be time for Mr. Hawking to sleep.

I pray to God he comes through this although my heart is telling me he won't.
An amazing man with such an amazing talent, a brilliant and inspirational man will be lost if he does pass and i hope everybody he remembers his as the legend he is. I am a teenager and so i see a lot of people making fun of his disease which i think is completely disgusting. He is one of my heroes for still carrying on and fighting till the end. It's such a shame that God has blessed him with a powerful mind but a weak body
Perez, clearly geography is not your strong point. Cambridge is nowhere near London, its about a 3 and half hour drive drive from London. I know that to you Yanks England seems very small, but that doesnt make every place 'near London'!
Actually, Cambridge is about an hour and half drive from London depending on which part of London you're going to.
Hope he gets better though.
