Chace Really Wants To Dance
As we previously mentioned, Zac Efron pulled out of the Footloose remake in order to take on more "serious" roles.
Zacquisha's loss is another famewhore's gain!
And, last month, we told you that Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford was said to be screen testing for the role.
Well, surprisingly it seems he might get the part! That is, if his GG schedule allows him.
According to reports, the negotiations are in the final stages, but the only thing stopping them is the shooting schedule, and Gossip Girl seems to be getting in the way!
A source reveals that "There's a big overlap of when he'd have to shoot Footloose and the next season of Gossip Girl."
And since the heads at GG haven't been able to accommodate Crawford's schedule, "Chace may be hiring a big-league attorney to come in and figure out how to make it work."
Work it out, bitches!

Good job, Perez, putting the words serious roles in quotation marks. Everyone knows what a ridiculous lie that was. The reason that the Poof Pony backed out of 'Footloose' is because it is NOT a musical, it's a drama with music, and Efron KNOWS he doesn't have the acting chops to carry it off.

The more important question is, does Chace have the kind of talent that it will take to measure up to what Kevin Bacon did with the role 25 years ago? I don't know for sure, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

I didn't watch Gossip Girl on the air, but I'm just catching up with Season One on DVD. From what I've seen so far, the role of Nate is written in a very tight way, which doesn't allow Chace a lot of acting range, but he DOES have loads of camera presence, and he gets the maerial across very well. The fact that he NAILED the audition is a very good sign.
Chase can do some dancing, while impaled on my dick.

I never watched Gossip Girl and I don't know much about Chace, but I hope he gets the part, he does very well in it and all his fans go see the movie so that he can do well at the box office just so Zac can realize a big mistake he made. I love the original movie, and I'm not sure if this remake will compare, but I just think it was wrong of Zac to pull out of it after months and months of committing to it. As far as I'm concerned, Footloose is far from a musical and he should have stuck with it. There is dancing, yes, but it tells a story about a town with their own laws made up because of a tragedy. That's on the path of a serious role.

biggest mistake ever by Efron ? Itsl ike one of those career killing careers, and its not like the original footloose was kids movie like all those high school musicals were. Then again I don't think he could pull off the same moves as Kevin Bacon (flying front kick…hyah)
I have to say that I am excited Chase is taking on the role. I think Zac would have done an excellant job as well however but I think Chace needs the chance to really get out there and show the public his talents. I think he will be GREAT! He is SUPER HOT and I cant wait to see him give Footloose a go! Huge, Huge mistake Zac turning it down….GREAT for Chase!
