Help For Slumdog Millionaire Child Star

As we mentioned earlier, Rafiq Quereshi, the father of adorable 9-year-old Slumdog Millionaire star Rubina Ali, has reportedly attempted to sell his daughter in an illegal adoption deal!!! Apparently, he was close to getting $300,000 for her.
Thankfully, though, the douche of a dad got arrested and tried to blame it all on a "misunderstanding" after some Dubai sheikh offered to adopt the little girl.
Thank goodness, now, for the producers of Slumdog. The same execs that set up a trust and purchased homes for Rubina and her young co-star, Azhar Ismail, have now stepped in to help again.
After the news broke of Rubina's dad trying to sell give her up for adoption, the movie execs quickly got on the case and have now hired a social worker to look after her.
Producer Christian Colson released a statement Tuesday saying, "Both Danny [Boyle, the director] and I remain committed to working the the trust and the family to secure Rubina's long-term best interests."
A trustee for the child stars' trust released a their own statement adding that "the trust will support Rubina, her parents and responsible authorities to ensure that the rights and best interests of Rubina. The trust is in regular contact with Rubina Ali and her family and has hired a social worker to assist in looking after her welfare and that of her co-star."
Thank goodness there are at least a few good people looking out for those kids!

It wasn't a real Sheikh trying to adopt her..It was a set up because an old neighbor of the family heard about them trying to sell the girl and they tipped off authorities who ran an undercover sting operation. You're such a douche.

It was downright cruel to that group of children to parade them around Hollywood, to the oscars, to the parties, taking them to disney, the other amusement parks and after a week they are thrown back on a plane and back in the slums. No word on the other kids at all. Why let these kids get a taste of this, something they will never be able to see again, touch again. These kids don't have houses, sleep outside on sticks, probably are lucky to eat. There was no sheikh actually trying to buy her, go to "The News of the World" newspaper on-line, and you will read about how it was a investgative reporter who pretended he was acting for a family. This was after a tip off regarding the Fathers plans. The most horrific thing about this siutation was the family members including her Father, did not once ask why the family wanted her, when tehy suppossedly had childreen of their own. Sex trafficking of poor indian girls is rife in the UAE, but all they did was up the money they wanted each time they met with the reporter. Great british reporting once again, at least she should be safe now! Unfortunately this happens all the time, all over the world, including UK & USA. P.S. There are only 3 cultures in this world which are not very happy when girls are born, the majority of the world is sophisticated enough to realise the value of both sexes.
