Miss Vermont was stunned by Miss California's answer to our question too!
"Everyone has the right to their own actions, but I totally disagree with Carrie," said Brooke Werner in a new interview.
"I have a very different perspective on gay marriage and I would never had said what she said."
Although Werner hails from the latest state to recognize same-sex marriage, the beauty queen revealed that she was not the only one appalled by Prejean's answer!!
"A lot of people were shocked," said Werner of the mood backstage after Miss Cali gave us her answer. "We were all giving each other those eyes, we couldn't believe it."
Neither could we!!!
And what did Miss Vermont think of the question itself?
"…I thought it was a great question, its a very hot topic right now and was totally appropriate."

First off, Mario has set gay rights back 20 years with his little girl hissy fit. The problem is now that many people will think that Mario represents ALL gays with his attitude. In fact, most gay people are just like heterosexual people - they work, they love, they raise children, they pay their bills and mow their yards. They do not push their lifestyle in your face and force you to like it. They just want to be accepted and have the same rights are heterosexual Americans, not made poster children for some blogger's tirade.
I understand that people who yell the loudest are the ones who tend to get noticed, but to what end is all your yelling about Mario? You will not bring people to your way of believing with this diatribe! I agree that the question perez asked was totaly appropriate, kind of ironic that california got that question after prop 8, but it is an issue on human rights. Sure she grew up with traditional values her parents bestowed upon her..however traditional values are not always right. To beleive that marriage should only be for a man and a woman and that they can have a "contract" to get all the legal benefits is still stripping away the right to get married. The moment we start denying rights to be people is the moment we have stooped treating people equally and loving everyone. Look at womens issues for example being allowed to wear pants, before sure they let women were skrits and dresses so why should we want to wear pants if they offer us skirs and dresses. such a simple issue yet still denying rights. or for example when blacks could ride the bus but they had to sit in the back …I am waiting for the day when people who do not beleive in gay marriage can realize the kind of stupid and uncaring people they are…and realize that letting gays have contracts is not giving them the same rights as everyone but they should be allowed to marry.

Marriage is something special between a husband and wife. Man and woman. I think more people are on CA's side than are on Perez's side.
