Alabama Supports Gay Discrimination Miss California

In good ol' Alabama, Republican state representative Jay Love has drafted a resolution praising Miss California, Carrie Prejean, for standing by her beliefs in inequality.
The resolution was introduced on Tuesday and has come before the House Rules Committee for consideration.
Every member of the House Republican Caucus has signed onto the bill as co-sponsors, along with some Democrats.
Democratic State Representative Alvin Holmes, however, said, "I am not for the Alabama Legislature honoring her in any kind of way."
Sounds like a spectacular waste of time and funding!

I think people are missing the point here. The answer she gave was a bad pageant answer. She contradicted herself saying it was great that people can choose (when people in most states can't,) and then said I think marriage is between a man and a woman. Which is it? Is it great people can choose or isn't it? If you personally only believe in "opposite marriage" does that mean same sex marriage shouldn't be legal? Her answer was all over the place, and I think that is a big part of why she lost.

As much as people want to believe that our country wasn't founded on religion, they're wrong. I don't see how you can believe that it wasn't. It has been shown and proved that all 50 states have some sort of reference to God in their constitution. California's preamble for an example:

I am a democrat and I have been my entire political life. But the fact is I agree too that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. Anybody that is religious would agree, as it says so right in the bible. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against gay people and I in fact even have a few gay friends. The way I see it is their sexual relationships are a sin too, but at least the gay people involved in the relationship are the ones that will have to deal with the repercussions of that sin. But if two men or two women are aloud to stand in front of God and be married, then we are all guilty of not attempting to stop it.
The fact is I stood up in my living room and clapped when Miss. California answered the question the way she did. She could have lied just to gain an edge in the competition voting, but she stuck to her beliefs and that is very admirable. What's interesting about this is that many of the same folks who are slamming her for her remark voted for President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, who both have the same belief: that marriage should be between a man and a woman.
