Angelina Jolie is about to seal a major deal alongside Fox to buy the screen rights to author Patricia Cornwell's novels!
Jolie met with the author to persuade Cornwell into allowing movie adaptations of her Scarpetta novels to be made. After meeting on common ground, the author agreed to the film franchise!
The films are said to be suspense thrillers centering around the character of Dr. Kay Scarpetta, the "opera-loving" coroner Ange hopes to play.
No doubt the films will be a hit - everything Jolie touches turns to Oscar or box office gold!

I checked out the summary for the novels. They seem kind of cheesy, but whatev's, I might go just to see Angie!!! That is probably what they're banking on.

I am a HUGE fan of the Scarpetta series. I've read every one and just finished the audio version of the current novel, aptly titled "Scarpetta". Angelina Jolie is NOT a fit for the role of Kay Scarpetta. Scarpetta needs to be played by someone a bit older with the maturity for the role, maybe Glenn Close or someone similar? Google Patricia Cornwell and look at her photo. SHE should be playing Scarpetta, but no one would show up for an unknown.

First of all–her hand looks like it was surgically attached to her wrist, and 2nd, none of her recent movies have been hits, and she and they did not win Oscars. Good for her though, in trying to change her image
What happened to her taking some time off? She keeps wanting more kids & after each one says she's taking time off & DOESN'T! I love Angelina & have seen almost all her movies but she said her family is 1st but she's not proving that. As for the Scarpetta novels being turned into movies - that's exciting! I've read everyone - however Scarpetta has been described as short & blonde, which Angie is neither! She's also been to college, medical school, & law school! How can someone as young as Angie play a Chief Medical Examiner when she's barely old enough to be out of her internship!!! Scarpetta is more Jodie Foster or if she were blonde even Julianne Moore.

I've read all of them though I do think Cornwell jumped the shark with Black Notice and I haven't really liked her writing since…but, aside from that, Jolie in no way is Kay Scarpetta who is an Italian blonde from Northern Italy…ugh, I am not liking this at all. LOVE the books, but Angie was never a choice I thought of when casting the movie in my head - Scarpetta is short with curly blonde hair and striking, strong features. I definitely thought of someone more distinguished, but kudos to Angie for getting the movie rights!

Angie WOULD be a good choice for the niece, Lucy - the character's buff, tall, slim, pretty, gay, reckless, likes weapons and has that edge that Angie plays so well.

I've read most of the Scarpetta books. They're good, quick reads. Angelina is not the best fit for Kay Scarpetta, in fact, she's not even close to an OK fit. Don't get me wrong, I like her work. The Changling was really good and I love Girl Interupted. Hell, I even liked her in Hackers. Kay is just a muture woman. I think she is already in her late 30's/ early 40's at the start of the novels. By now she has to be in 50's.
So much for her "retirement." I don't think she'd be a good Kay Scarpetta. I think someone like Christine Lahti would do a good job. I certainly hope Brad doesn't get the role of Benton.

I love Angelina, but she has really gotten waayyy too thin. I think she looked great with some curves, I don't think she weighs more than 100 lbs now, and is exactly the same height as I am, with the same small bone structure. She'd look alot sexier at 110 at least.
