Angelina Jolie Spearheading Upcoming Film Franchise

Angelina Jolie is about to seal a major deal alongside Fox to buy the screen rights to author Patricia Cornwell's novels!
Jolie met with the author to persuade Cornwell into allowing movie adaptations of her Scarpetta novels to be made. After meeting on common ground, the author agreed to the film franchise!
The films are said to be suspense thrillers centering around the character of Dr. Kay Scarpetta, the "opera-loving" coroner Ange hopes to play.
No doubt the films will be a hit - everything Jolie touches turns to Oscar or box office gold!

At least Angelina can open a film as the lead star ("Wanted", "Tomb Raider", "Changeling"). She has her flops too. Poor Chinnifer Maniston is always relegated to the part of the girlfriend. Any film where she received top billing ("Rumor Has It" and "The Good Girl") have been flops.

Really? They tanked? Hmm… Changeling got nominated for an Oscar plus it was one of the top 5 movies of 2008, Wanted won an award and was nominated for an Academy Award, Kung Fu Panda made millions and was also up for an Oscar, she won an award for A Mighty Heart which also lead box offices, and so on. I think the word tank doesn't fit best. I would say success fits perfectly

This is FABULOUS news!! The books are so good and I've always thought they would translate well onto the screen. I can't say I pictured Ang as Scarpetta, but shes a great actress so I have no doubts.
This could definitely become a franchise role for her!
