Mia Farrow's Hunger Strike For Darfur

Mia Farrow is taking a very serious stand for her beliefs!
The actress and avid activist against genocide began a hunger strike on Monday due to the Sudanese government's decision to ban all international organizations from aiding the people of Darfur.
Farrow explains her fast "as a personal expression of outrage at a world that is somehow able to stand by and watch innocent men, women and children needlessly die of starvation, thirst and disease."
Mia is hoping for world leaders to "help build a credible peace process" so the violence in Darfur can end once and for all.
Good for her!
Let's hope the actress' protest is able to achieve the bring attention to the change she's vying for!

Perez, thanks for posting this! Please keep updated about her hunger strike and the fact that over 800,000 innocent people have died due to a genocidal regime. It's important and I'm glad Mia Farrow is raising awareness about this important subject!

Who cares….the US government condoned the genocide of Native Americans and we still haven't given them their land back or even made reperations. The Sudanese should just do what America did and put them on reservations….really small pieces of land compared to what was once theirs.

Perez, If you go back to the Huffington Post and re-read her blog, I'm pretty sure she said she was going to begin her fast on the 27th, so she hasn't started it yet. Commenters were trying to persuade her not to start fasting.
Personally I don't think it will make a difference. The leaders of Sudan don't care how skinny she is and I doubt if even Obama cares . There's enough Anorexics to worry about without non-anorexics starving themselves, no matter how good the cause.

Do people not understand that the US cannot save every single country and problem? There are MANY other countries that could help out… we have problems in the US that get ignored because everyone wants the US to hold every other countries hand. I feel horrible for what the people in Darfur are going through and celebrities do a great job at bringing attention to it. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Mia Farrow, how many millions of dollars do these people have??? The US is not responsible for every problem in the world I'm sorry but we need to come back and look at the US and all the starving and abused children here. We need to work on protecting our own children and putting money towards education, keeping sex offenders in jail, and many more things. We always spread ourselves way to thin.

This hunger strike on Ms. Farrow's part is completely meaningless. The problem is Darfur is caused by Arab muslims killing black muslims for the farmland. The real issue in Sudan is about to happen soon when there is a vote to determine if the Abyei region will be part of the muslim north or tribal religions/christian south. This is important because this is where the oil is. It is also important to remember that in Sudan you must have a license to take photo.
What Ms Farrow should be doing is demanding that the President of the USA insist that the butcher who is president in Sudan is taken to the Hague to face his charges of crimes against humanity. President Obama needs to take a stand because as Churchill put it all those decades ago that evil only happens when good men stand by and do nothing.
