Miss California Invited To Dinner With Gay Rights Group

The pro-LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) organization Equality California has extended an invitation to Miss California, Carrie Prejean, to join members of the LGBT community for dinner!
Geoff Kors, the executive director of EQCA is hoping to sit down with Miss Cali at a dinner hosted by a same-sex couple and several LGBT students in an attempt to share their stories with the pageant queen.
"Miss California probably doesn't realize how hurtful her statements are, especially to the LGBT youth," Kors explained on Tuesday.
He continued, "But this is about something much bigger than the issue of marriage alone, and I have to believe that if she meets us, she will come to see our humanity, and at the very least, I hope she will understand that what she says as Miss California can either hurt people or bring them together."
That's exactly what we've been saying!
Says Kors in his letter to Miss California:
As the executive director of EQCA, I'm writing to you in an effort to begin an open, honest dialogue. As such, I'd like to invite you to meet with me, LGBT students as well as a family headed by a same-sex couple so you may learn more about our families, our aspirations and our lives. I'm especially interest in introducing you to LGBT youth who can share with you their heartfelt stories about how the prejudice they face on a sometimes daily basis at school and in their local communities impacts them.
It is our hope that by meeting with us you'll come to see our humanity and one day support our unequivocal equality.
With your position as Miss California, you have an incredible opportunity to help bring people together and to make a difference. I hope you will seize that opportunity and accept this invitation.

Do you think that if Miss California goes to this dinner that she'll change her mind on her deeply felt spiritual values? She didn't say anything about not wanting equal rights for all! All she said was that she thinks that a man and woman marrying is best for her. I think this is being made huger of a controversy that it really is. Many people just don't want gay people to marry in the church and see nothing wrong with civil unions and equal rights. I just don't want to look into the future and have children so confused when they see men marrying men and women marrying women. Life is confusing enough for children that I don't think we should add to it. I believe all of us are equal but a marriage between two of the same sex in church is just not going to ever be right to me.

AS SHE SHOULD. the LGBT found an opportunity to get themselves in the spotlight. maybe we should push on gays that being gay is a CHOICE or something. would that change them from being gay to straight? NO. so why would they have a dinner just to nuke what has been said over and over and over again.
GET OVER IT. LGBT should put their focus on changing congress and the state laws on gay marriage and less time having a dinner with Miss Cali.

Re: Genghis Khan – I don't think Pervez will ever go back to doing the job he got famous for, which is covering this site with relevant and interesting, witty observations about the Hollywood scene. Ever since politics entered the arena on this site, it's as if he's drunk with it and can't see anything he's doing to alienate those who don't come here for politic talk. I suggested a long time ago that he open a NEW SITE - a companion site — to discuss those issues and to return this site back to what it used to be. And I know he would raise his traffic here and lose a lot of traffic there because there's only so many who will put up with his constant DEAD HORSE BEATING routine on a daily basis.
