Demi Lovato Speaks Out Against School Bullying

In the wake of the tragic deaths of two boys subjected to bullying, Demi Lovato has spoken up!
The Disney starlet has taken a stand against school bullying and harassment on her official Twitter.
She says:
It honestly amazes me how schools refuse to take action in verbal abuse.. they SAY they do, but this what ends up happening. So, so sad.. I can't explain what I went through when I left public school to start homeschooling.. One day I will. But right now… Just know what you say to someone can effect them for the rest of their life.

the problem is that parents expect school to educate their children, and as much as a teacher can try to, they're not the kid's parent. school plays a big part in educating kids? hell yeah. but parents have to do their part too, and lately they've been expecting teachers to do it. don't just say it's wrong and that school should do something! YOU should do something. maybe YOUR kid is doing it out there and you're the BEST person when it comes to teach him right our wrong.

Yes, she went to school. She wasn't even on Disney until she was like 13 or 14. Also, this is Perez's website. He addresses it to adults, not to 10 year old kids. Or should I say school aged kids? I think when a child has a talent that stands out from the others, they become targets. This is a classic case. School districts and PARENTS need to be held responsible. There should be a ZERO tolerance policy when it comes to bullying. Actually, some school districts DO have ZERO tolerance policies but do not follow through with it. This is just something to be thought about.

I blame the parents, they failed teaching their children how to stand up for themselves and be proud of who they are. Tolerance classes won't do a damn thing, kids will be kids and you can't change that.
I was bullied as a child, my dad told me the next time someone bullies you, punch him as hard as you can. Next day I did just that and guess what?? I have never been bullied again…. It's not a perfect world people, it never will be, you must prepare yourselves and your children for that.

WELL schools are just fuckin stupid… mine I get in trouble bc i used my phone inbetween classes to call my dad to pick me up since i felt like i was going to pass out… when i never do anything wrong BUT the office flipped shit on me! YET… they don't do SHIT when this kid fucking threatens my friends, writes poems about killing everyone. and slaps people… so i want to see him actually hurt/kill someone and the administration will just feel stupid. stupid stupid.

Kids were always bullied in school. Some beyond the endurance level! but no one killed themselves over it. I think it was because they had good solid homes to go to, which restored their sense of security. Now… those homes hardly exist, what with one parent missing (usually the father). These bullied children have nowhere to go but deeper inside themselves.

Yeah!! Go Demi! I was bullied for my entire Grade 1 to Grade 8 life and it was horrible. People need to start taking a stand against it
she is right, verbal abuse tends to hurt more than physical. I wasnt bullied really (I mean once in a great while) but I was the kinda person that had alot of friends, popular, not popular, jock, rocker, artsy, loner and all different kinda people as friends, but I never thought of myself as popular cause I didnt want that label, and I wasnt the stereotypical bitchy popular person, I stayed out of drama and was nice to everyone. But it broke my heart when I learned she actually had to leave school from the bullying, she seems like such a sweet girl. GOOD FOR YOU DEMI! she isnt the only one who has said this, Miley spoke about it, Kevin Jonas did (cause he was in school the longest, till junior year, since he was the oldest) and a few others, I think its a good thing or stars to stand up for the bullied because some of the bullies out there might like them and it might make them lay off, or the bullied might get the courage to stand up and not take it, not let it bother them.
ps, I think she looks great with darker hair, and I also think she is the most mature of all the disney starlets…

I am in an Anti-Bullying group called Students For Safer Schools. We got a bill passed in Florida last year too. The woman who runs its son Jeffrey commited suicide and it was my friends best friend. She is a tough women for doing what she has done so far with our group. Sooo I really respect Demi for saying what she said. GO DEMI!

Stop saying she never went through that and that she's just saying it to gain attention. She just started her career almost 2 years ago. Before that, not only was it hard growing up with a single mother but I don't think everything was peaches and cream in school for her. Not all Disney celebrities are perfect. Honestly, I don't like Disney kids. I met Selena Gomez, she was really nice to me and I met David Henrie too and he was alright,very serious but alright. The only one who I really do hate is Miley because she's a spoiled,rude brat.
