Oh, really????
Miss California says that people are not born gay. Instead, she believes that being gay is "a behavior that develops over time."
She probably thinks that people can be "cured" of homosexuality too!
Prejean also reveals that "the way that I was brought up, that was not an option" to be gay.

That being said, I think the crux of the issue between us is whether or not homosexuality is "natural" or "unnatural". I believe it is natural because that is how some people are born. Did you know that there are homosexual animals, including dogs? Now certainly we do not believe that homosexual dogs are a result of a domineeirng canine mother or a sexually abusive uncle fido.
I think it is natural for some people to be homosexual and some people to be heterosexual - and whether or not homosexual (or heterosexual for that matter) couples can reproduce together does not make them any more or less natural. Lesbian women can bear children and gay men can father children. The biological parents may or may not be in an intimate relationship together, but that is THEIR choice - not yours - to make.
Just because she has an opinion on something, doesn't mean you should hate on her, or call her a bitch for it. It's so ridiculous. You're just wasting your time, because no matter how many positions you put her in, her mind will always be made up. Her opinions will stay the same. Just because she doesn't believe in gay marriage, doesn't mean that she doesn't like gay people, so I don't see why you're making such a big deal about this. I really think your "choice" on sexuality is like how much say you had on being born with brown eyes or blue eyes. There isn't a choice. It is decided for you. You could fight it by dating the opposite sex or wearing colored eye contacts but it isn't who you are inside.

I'm from San Diego, and San Diego was influential in the the campaign for Proposition 8. I live in a fairly conservative community, and I know people who attend the Rock Church in San Diego, all of them are cool with gays but when it comes to marriage, I guess they oppose the use of "marriage" to refer to gay civic unions.
In Britain, they have civil unions, so heterosexuals there can decide to get married or have a civil union, the option of a civil union is available to queer Britons, which ensures them all the rights of a traditional marriage, without the name.
As a matter of fact she is somewhat right. There is no proof that being gay is either biological or sociological. The nature vs. nurture debate regarding homosexuality has been one that is still going on. If homosexuality is 100% biological, then the gay community needs to speak out about it! This would make people more accepting to it. It wasn't till the 1970's that homosexuality was still considered a medical condition. This is also not just a religious debate, but a lot of people also oppose it on moral grounds and the fact that homosexuals cannot reproduce and therefore not natural. People aren't going to ever agree on this, so it is up to the gay community to do more research and bring it to the public!

Carrie Prejean and her childish comments support the hypothesis that ignorance and prejudice seem to have a causitive correlation. The same people that think that God punished the gays by unleashing Katrina on New Orleans must also see that Prejeans comments have caused the recent rulings on Gay Marriage in the states of Iowa and Maine. I'm not saying I believe that, only that the magical thinking group in the Christian Right must form this conclusion using their falacious logic.
