As a conservative republican from iowa, i am very proud of our state today. hopefully, this will become nationwide sooner than later.

  10. 10

Hey moron. Why don't you bash the president you love so dearly? His exact quote…..

"I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."

  11. 11

Woo Hooo my Uncle and his man Micheal can finally get married. awww how good. Now every other state needs to follow!!!!!!!!!!

again… we're going to end up like sodom and gomorrah!!!!

  20. 20

You realize the people didn't even vote on this. It was forced upon them by the oligarchy… I mean state supreme court.

  21. 21

    Iowans are awesome.

Re: KEEFER – umm no, punishment to follow

  27. 27

Re: sticktocelebritynewsidiot – Actually if you did some more research you would realize he also believes IN FULL AND EQUAL rights and priveleges for gay couples as straight couples getting married. Basically he believes in civil unions with FULL and EQUAL RIGHTS which is basically gay marriage. He also called the passing of Prop 8 un American. Do some research buddy.

  28. 28

Re: agentsmithctu – STFU the courts are FOR the protection of minorities. You cannot put the rights of a 10 % minority up for the vote of a 90 % majority. That makes NO sense lol! Ten more states on the way! Whether you like it or not!

  29. 29

    Who cares!!

Re: KEEFER – only gay ass bitches post "first" when in fact they are not. actually, anyone who posts "first" is a gay ass bitch…queefer.

  31. 31

Hooray for equal rights! Boo for bigots! lol

  32. 32

Re: recklesskellie – If you're happy about this, you're not a conservative republican.

  33. 33

Re: SWEETPIECE! – still need a big, fat cock up your ass?

  34. 34

Re: sticktocelebritynewsidiot – Your quote answers your question for you
"…I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue…"

  35. 35

Alot of my Republican friends also LOVE gay marriage and can't wait for it to come to their state!

  36. 36

    Hey ORLY05:

No, we shouldn't be disgusted in ourselves. Maybe you should be disgusted with heterosexual's abusing the right to marry, your high divorce rate, marriages out of wedlock, hish rate of different types of abuse in marriages, the fact that people who believe as you do are so behind the times it isn't even funny, and most people who make the most noise about being anti-gay tend to be gay themselves. There is much more for YOU to be disgusted with than we ever need to be. But being so hateful yourself, you wouldn't recognize what 2 people truly loving each other is anyways. Shame.

  37. 37

Re: nrth2sth05 – Abuse and the divorce rate has NOTHING to do with allowing gays to marry. Also, I would point to the divorce rate (ALONG with allowing gays to marry) as a detioration of society. Just because people are idiots and give up to soon on their marriage nowadays, DOES NOT mean you give gays the right to marry. Then you'd have to give dogs the right to marry.

  38. 38

Woo hoo!! Good for you, Iowa!

  39. 39

    I MEAN, SHIT ………………………..

  40. 40

Equality for all in Iowa….hard to believe and in California still retarded, that's harder to believe !

  41. 41

    Your grammar sucks.

  42. 42

Re: Orly05 – I SERIOUSLY hope you did not just compare a gay man or woman's rights to a dogs?! They are human fucking beings! They're no different than you or me and yeah they deserve to marry. Oh, and the high divorce rate for straight couples may not have anything directly to do with why gays should be allowed to marry but it does crumble all you gay bashers excuse that marriage is a religious tradition and that the sanctity of such needs to be protected. Seriously? 50% of the who couples marry these days don't take it seriously at all. And as for "tradition", marriage has changed so much over the centuries. If you want to talk about "traditional" marriage than maybe we should go back to having the entire wedding party go up to the honeymoon sweet to ensure that the marriage is in fact consummated! That's the holy thing to do right?! Keep it traditional. And while the groom is ripping off his arranged brides dress everyone can catch a piece for "good luck". Because that's the way it was done, not the garter toss that we have today. Damn that garter toss thing is blasphemy! Let's go back to the old ways where are parents money decides who we marry! That's it!

  43. 43

Re: sticky_and_sweet – What makes no sense is the notion that a court of 3 to 9 people has broad discretion to do whatever it deems necessary to "protect minorities". No, that's not the way it works. Courts get to evaluate a statute against the Constitution, and determine if it is constitutional or unconstitutional. For a court to say that traditional marriage is unconstitutional is patently ridiculous.

  44. 44

My favorite professor is marrying his partner of 27 yrs this Thursday.. he's such a great guy, I can't help but be happy for him.

  45. 45

This is a GREAT day for Iowans and for all people!!! I hope I live long enough to see same sex marriage legal for everyone everywhere. If you don't believe in same sex marriage…don't marry someone of the same sex!!!

  46. 46

Re: Mishca_b23 – Im sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone by comparing gays to dogs….if we let fudgepackers marry, we'd have to let anyone else, including monkeys and gorillas, marry too!! FEEL BETTER??

  47. 47

YAY!! ill tell my bro to move there! lol him and his boyfriend have been engaged for a year but these damn restrictions wont let them b together :(

  48. 48

    its began

  49. 49

Re: agentsmithctu – If you're so concerned with the sanctity of marriage. Let's ban divorce!

  50. 50

The great thing about Iowa is that any gay couple can get married there and if your state recognizes gay marriages from other states then it is perfectly legal! YAY for EQUALITY!

  51. 51

    Shout out from IOWA!!!!

  52. 52

Re: sticky_and_sweet – I'm not. My comment had nothing to do with the sanctity of marriage. Rather, I'm concerned about the gay marriage movement's assault on the Constitution and the separation of powers.

  53. 53

GO Iowa.. for once I am actually proud of the state I chose to go to college in

  54. 54

all gays will burn in the end…

  55. 55
