"The National Kidney Foundation, a major voluntary nonprofit health organization, is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney disease and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.

Through its more than 50 local offices nationwide, the NKF provides vital patient and community services, conducts extensive public and professional education, advocates for patients through legislative action and supports kidney research to identify new treatments."

WOW! i was so inccredibly excited to see The National Kidney Foundation on perez's website!!!! What a FANTASTIC ORGANIZATION!!! My family has been involved with the National Kidney foundation for about 22 years now. My sister had kidney problems when she was young and my family wanted to be part of an organization involving kidney disease. I am very proud of NKF and think it is a great organization. Your help will go towards bringing awareness to kidney disease and help towards research. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take a look at the information Perez posted!!
Thanks Perez for putting NKF up here as your worthwhile cause for people to take a look at! All non-profits are in need of donations and volunteers and it is great you are bringing awareness to organizations in need and organizations that reach out to so many people!!!

I am 20 years old and two months ago I had my second kidney transplant and my family is very involved in the National Kidney Foundation and its great to get it out there and let people know what is going on and maybe they will help out!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH :)

My husband was saved by a kidney/pancreas transplant. It was literally like he was resurrected from the dead. This is one of the most worthwhile causes I have ever seen on this site. Everyone should register to be an organ donor!

Thank you so much for posting this. I occasionally see commercials on tv for the NKF as well. I'm 21 and currently on dialysis for my second time. I had a transplant (perfect match) in December from my cousin. I had some complications..and the kidney only lasted one week for me…but for that one week I had felt better than I had in years.

    Share your spare!

www.kidneyfun.net–a website ran by another 21 year old from Florida. A great place to talk to other kidney patients and hear their stories.

Thank you Perez for posting info on the National Kidney Foundation on your site. I have been working in the dialysis field for about 8 years now, about 5 years of those as a dialysis technician. I have met some of the most awesome and special people in my life as a result. Seeing someone deal with kidney failure day after day for years is one of the most heartbreaking things to deal with, especially when you know that so many of them could be saved if more people chose to become better informed about kidney disease & donate. Please, please everybody check this worthwhile cause out!!!! Thanks again Perez for posting this!

My Sweetie is on dialysis and has been for 12 years due to kidney disease. Most people think dialysis = failed kidneys due to diabetes but there are HUNDREDS of diseases that can cause renal failure. My Sweetie has Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, which is the same disease that basketball player Alonzo Mourning has. We tired a transplant but the disease attacked the new kidney after only one month. Dialysis is now the only option.

Thank you Perez for posting this as a worthwhile cause!

The National Kidney Foundation of WNY will be having their walk in Buffalo, NY on June 14th, 2009 at Coca-Cola Field (where the Bison's play)! IF any of you are in the WNY area and are connected with this cause, you really should come and walk with us! Its an amazing day with a walk along the waterfront, cook out and butterfly release to commemerate the 170,000 people in WNY living with CKD. I hope to see you all there! I have been walking for the past years and its an amazing event!

Re: MosaicGirl – that is exactly what my husband had! you and your family are in our thought!!!

Re: red andreti – No kidding?! I would love to be able to compare notes! We've never met anyone who had the disease. It just struck out of the blue and now we've been dealing with it. I wish there was a way I could get your email or give you mine!

  16. 16

Re: red andreti – How about I create a new temporary email on like Yahoo or Hotmail or something and post it here? You could email me there and after I get an email from you, I could send you my REAL email address then close the other one so I'm not getting emails I don't want.

Thank You Perez for bringing attention to the NKF. It is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. I spent 3 1/2 yrs. on dialysis and now live a healthy and wonderful life thanks to a transplant I had in 2006.
