Come on, Hollywood, get some fresh blood in there and come up with something new!

Universal is aiming to ruin yet another classic, and this time they've got their sights set on Drop Dead Fred.

The remake of the 1991 cult hit will star Russell Brand as the trouble-making imaginary friend.

Conceptually, the remake hopes to borrow from Beetlejuice.

How long until they remake that one too?

Wait! Don't give them any ideas!

I LOVE Drop Dead Fred!! Whenever I was sick and had to stay home from school, my mom would rent me 2 movies and 1 of them ALWAYS had to be Drop Dead Fred. Not sure how I feel about a remake, but I do like Russell Brand.

remaking this movie is lame…..if the kids of today need to "see it again" then put it back out in the theater (the original….) hollywood is so stupid….i am not sure why no one can get their collective heads around doing….i don't know…..something crazy like…..original work……you can't tell me that there are no scripts that are good floating around…..and there are certainly plenty of books that can be optioned…..what are they going to do….remake this with a cute 20 something girl (ashley tisdale or such) then have phoebe cates play the mother….you know so there is a twist…. i will be glad when there is a new regime in hollywood…..the old guys are just tired……and apparently bored…..

I agree with the concept of remaking movies that sucked, because perhaps they can remake them into movies that are good. But remaking cult films into shitty movies is abhorrent to me and should not be permitted.

i luv russell, and think he's a good actor, but when will movie producers come up with original movie concepts, rather than spoiling old classics. They don't, and can't, make the films as good as they once were. I watched the original Drop Dead Fred the other day, and think its a great movie, but one that doesnt need to be spoiled by a remake.
