Personally, I couldn't care less who wants to get married to who. That's not nessessarily the same thing as agreeing with gay marriage, I'm allowed, along with every one else to have my own opinion (including Miss California). We have to all learn to respect other's opinions but at the same time be tolerant of people that are different from us or have different beliefs. I feel that Perez, as much as I love reading his site is being very hypocritical when it comes to this issue. He wants other's to agree with his views and if u do you're a wonderful person and if you don't your a piece of shit. Ok- here is the deal. On balance, Howard is correct. Perez, I also applaud you bringing this taboo subject to the forefront. I just wished people would respect-dissenting viewpoints, especially since that's what we want.
To me, this isn't a moral question. This is a legal question. And a legal question for the states to decide. Marriage is recognized by the states as a legal contract. There is NO religious or moral pretext - but an understanding of the terms, benefits, and consequences of recognition of this union. The gays don't want to destroy religion or church. They just want the law to say "I accept your legal contract as marriage as define by our state's laws and afford you the rights and benefits it provides" That's it. Perez- please don't polarize the religious right by making this a moral question- its simply a legal question- and our laws "the Constitution" are precluded from any religious dogma.
