The divorcing ultra-Catholic attended the Hollywood premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine at Grauman's Chinese Theater on Tuesday night.
But it was the person he took as his date that got him all the attention!
Just shortly announcing his split from his wife of 29 years, Robyn Moore, Gibson took his Russian girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva to the screening!
The 53-year-old Gibson walked the red carpet with his 59 39-year-old girlfriend, who's said to be a singer on his Icon Records label.
But don't hate Gibson. According to his rep, "Mel has been single for almost three years and it's nice to see him getting out and enjoying himself."
Though if Mel was hooking up with her while he was still legally married to his wife, wouldn't that make it cheating and make him an adulterer in God's eyes?

i believe the Catholic church says that you cannot get spiritually/religiously divorced without a very serious reason (like spousal abuse) and that his current relationship is adultery whether he's "single" or not.

Actually, Perez, since I believe the Catholic church offers only annulments, not divorce, he will be legally married in the eyes of God until his marriage is annulled. Which isn't likely since they were married for so long.

It does bother me that he is MR. CATHOLIC and here he is, divorcing. I really used to have a thing for Mel, but I have to say that seeing him become a hypocrite and doing the exact opposite of what a good Catholic boy should be doing kind of upsets me. I'm at least 99% sure that his marriage would have stayed strong if he had stayed true to his beliefs and conquered his addictions. Why would you question what someone does sexually? If he's born that way, with a drinking problem (disease) and if he's attracted to someone or isn't into monogamy why do you care what goes on behind closed doors.
It's probably less critical if someone who takes the time to go to church to try to better themselves would wonder what God thinks than someone who doesn't believe, care or practice.
You can't take isolated incidents or one comment from someone and profess to know who they are. Anyone who's made a joke or a statement (even in private) about a group doesn't mean they hate that group. That doesn't hold weight. If over and over you profess or spew hatred, like many here, then maybe.
