A progressive Democrat that not only supports equal rights but my right to marriage equality, he got NO support from the DCCC and NO support from HRC, despite reaching out, calling and visiting them on several occasions.       I am college educated with a professional license. I voted for marriage rights for the gay community. I also convinced my husband and mother-in-law to vote with me. My dissent is not against the gay community, au contrare. To be completely educated is to see both sides. I am trying to let Perez understand that his arguments are hated filled and one sided, he has the right to do that. I want his point to come across better so that he can be a better advocate for gay marriage. You don't have to be angry or use other people to get a point across.

      Doing or saying anything to undervalue the important matter of dealing forcefully with hate crimes, is, in a way, a hate crime itself. Calling this horrible crime a hoax is cowardly and foolish and way beneath the people of NC. This woman cannot possible represent the majority of North Carolinians. She needs to be voted out of office and away from public influence. NC residents need to remember that the next time she runs for office.

This bill is not saying that crimes against gays are less acceptable than other assaults, but it is recognizing that every citizen deserves safety, security and justice. This bill would level the playing field by making gays less of a target. They should not be a target for being who they are.
