With the threat of the swine flu H1N1 virus spreading around, many people can't afford the risk, so they're wearing the masks. Especially those people in third world countries that don't have the means for medication if they're infected.
Oh, and of course there's Heidi Montag and hubby Spencer Pratt.
The newlyweds arrived in Los Aneles yesterday after spending a few days in Cabo San Lucas filming a music video for one of Heidi's songs.
And what's a fame-loving couple to do? Put on some masks and walk around LAX airport filled with paparazzi!
The couple was gracious enough to pose for the paps and even kissed each other with their masks on. How sweet!
We will say, they both look a lot hotter with half their faces covered up!

Improved appearance is all these surgical masks are good for, they do NOT provide protection. They are designed to keep dirty doctor mouth bacteria out of splayed open humans. Washing of hands and again washing of hands is much more effective.

What most people don't know is that those regular kind of surgical masks do NOTHING to prevent swine flu…the bug goes right through them. Same as with the SARS outbreak in Toronto a few years back. Someone I know was a distributor for the approved type of masks (not like these 2 idiots are wearing) and he got rich supplying hospitals with the special masks.
To repeat, these normals masks do NOTHING!

Let me tell you how absurb this whole stunt really is. They were on my flight back to LA. When they showed up in the CABO Airport, no masks, laughing, talking with all sorts of people (also waiting for their plane). When they got on the plane, all I saw was Heidi getting up to use the rest room with the mask on, which I thought was odd since she didn't have it on in the Mexican Airport. They totally did this for publicity and not out of concern, considering they never put them on until they had a captive audience, what a joke!
