Driver Responsible For Dutch Tragedy Dies
Filed under: Sad Sad
The man responsible for the deadly crash during the Queen's Day celebration in the Netherlands on Thursday has died.
Before his death, the driver was charged with attempting to attack the royal family along with taking the lives of four people at the parade and injuring 12 others.
The driver plowed through police barriers set up to protect Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima during their procession in the annual Queen's Day celebration. He sent innocent observers "flying through the air" before being ejected from the vehicle himself.
Awful.
Police still have no leads on the man's motive for causing Thursday's horrendous accident.

you are a horrendous accident perez
it's so horrible
and 5 people already died, not 4
5 people died at the parade. the 5th one was takin to the hospital but later he died there, it was a 17 year old boy.
Where do you get your news? The driver was not ejected from the vehicle. There are pictures all over the net showing him unconsious and still sitting in his car.
He was despondent over losing his job, and the possibility of losing his house… poor desperate bastard - tragic!
already 7 people died, including the driver of the car
Re: xcalibur – It wasn't an accident! The streets where closed, the driver drove on purpose through the police barriers. The driver admitted to the police that he did it on purpose while he was still conscious. Now 7 people have died, including the driver.
By the way, not only Crown Prince Willem-Alexander & Princess Maxima were in the bus, also our Queen and many other Princes & Princesses were in the bus.
This was NO accident, the douche actually admitted planning a attack on the Dutch royal family.
This is such a tragedy.
It really was one of the hardest Queensdays for us in Holland.
All the festivities in Amsterdam stopped at 8 PM yesterday to show respect to the survivors and decieced.
It wasnt an accident, the dude was like not 100% and he 'just wanted some attention' so.. fucking crazy people.. It made queensday very strage.. >.
Wow - lots of hating around here - how do you deal with it, Perez? This is as bad as R&R on craigslist! So sad that people actually spend their time and energy composing negative sentiments instead of doing something that contributes to the betterment of our society… like we don't have enough crap to deal with in this world as it is, without having to fend off petty insults from unhappy cowards who hide behind the anonymity of the internet… so wrong and pointless and LCD
this wasnt an accident, he did it on purpose and not because he lost his job or house, what a stupid reason that is for killing so many people. it was a planned attack on the Dutch royal family dont feel sympathy for him after all the agony hes caused the whole of Holland
I'm astounded that they're assuming he was trying to kill anyone. It is a real possibility that the driver had a seizure or heart attack and stomped on the accelorator as he passed out. He also could very well have intended harm, but it's unconscionably irresponsible to jump to wide reaching conclusions prior to examining the evidence completely. It could put his family, and the royal family through unecessary hell.
Re: @v@ – he was actually seen alive while he was driving through the people and they even spoke to him after he crashed, he even said himself that he did it on purpose so don't make any excuses for him!
It was rather horrible. I was in Amsterdam at that moment, but when I got home (in the north of the Netherlands) I fully understood what has happened. There are some videoclips of victims flying trough the air. It was a very sad day yesterday.
why do the little people always get hurt when the rich are the intended target.
Re: @v@ – NO! Before he went uncontious he told the policeman that he planned the 'attack' on the royal family. And before he went through the croud with his car he was send away earlier by police trying to get 2 the street that led directly route that the royal family would pass by with their own bus.
Re: sweet-as-sugar84 – I've been told, and it's registered. I watched an early report, and am obviously in need of more info. What an ass he was.
god you are such an idiot he confessed to the police while he was wounded in the car that it wasn't an accident and that he tried to attack the royal family
and there are 7 people killed at this point including the man who did this
Re: F*ckmepumps – Guilty as charged. Read the comment above yours.
@ xcalibur : I'm from Holland and I live close by Apeldoorn and believe me this wasn't a plain accident, we just heard that there are now 7 people dead and 1 is crittical in the hospital.
And by the way the men confessed to the police while he was sitting in his car that he wanted to hit the bus with the royal family in it……..so you still think this was just a plain accident??????
Re: xcalibur – I live near by Apeldoorn and believe me xcalibur this wasn't just a plain accident.
There are now 7 people dead and 1 is still critical in the hospital, and he confessed to the police while he was still wounded in the car that wanted to attack the bus with the royal family in it……..so you'll still think this was just a plain accident?????
And yes it wasn't a terrorist attack but that don't make things right, it's still horrible what happend for the family's who has lost someone and for the Royal family knowing that they were the target of that idiot.
Re: xcalibur – excuse me xcalibur, perhaps you should look into a country's culture and what exactly happened before you start making really stupid comments.. this was an attack on our royal family on THE holiday in the Netherlands, the day where we celebrate them AND our country and everything it stands for.. so maybe it wasn't a terrorist attack because the maniac who did it wasn't foreign, he did attack our whole country, so the effects and the way people feel about it are nothing to LOL about..
7 people died, nog 4
It's horrible what happened!
Hai,
I live in the netherlands and i can tell you that it wasn't an accident and there all ready 7 people dead including the man who did this so we will never hear from him why he did this awful thing!
I thought i tell tis for the people who wanna know this.
greetings,
Jenny
I was at a party in amsterdam the moment in happened!
There is just one word for this: KUT!
It was terrible, we saw the car driving live on television!! NOT normal.. really sad!! I think it's good that people pay attention to this terrible action on Queensday.. Xx Sophia from Holland!!
I was in paris when i heard it.
Just horrible, stupid asshole.
One man who spoiled it for 17 miljon people
Qweensday is never going to be the same.
Poor litle Amalia, it was het first real queensday, you now, she must be troumatisht.
Re: xcalibur – Authorities in the Netherlands have confirmed that the man intended to hurt the royal family. The man stated this to police officers just after he drove into " de Naald" (= statue). He is also charged officially with assault on royalty, article 108, Dutch justice law. 7 people, included mr. K. T. driver of the car have died. This was by no means an accident. The men ploughed his way purposely through a crowd of innocent people, enjoying queensday. He drove through barricades, wit the purpose of getting to the royal family no matter what.
One more died yesterday.
7 death people in total now.
such a shame.
queensday is marked forever now.
Accident?
Not an accident, as many already stated. I am not a big fan of our royals but this was such a shock, Queensday has always been a big celibration, our royals have always trided to stay close and aprocable to the public, i think this is the end of it, maybe even of the celibration itselve. There is no way you can protect everybody from one crazy person, this is a big tragidy for all dutch people, let's respect those who have died and there family's
How very appropriate!
i was there !!!!
This was really awful…. but we will not stop having Queensday. Its our party, in our country and it is a party in which we all have fun together and be one as the Netherlands. If you are black or white, gay or straight, old or young, it doesnt matter on this day we are one! No fool can stop us. Not even a fool who tries to attack our royal family and kills 6 people on his way. Our royal house is the greatest, they have direct contact with the people and they said that this tragedy will not stop them having Queensday in Holland. We are one! My thoughts goes to the families of the people who died and to the people who got hurt.
I know it has been said, but really Mario, you have to check your sources. Or at least watch CNN a bit more. They were the ones who said that 4 people were presumed dead at first when Dutch television was only mentioning 1 deceased.
On the other hand, it is good to know that everyone is thinking of our teeny tiny country during this moment of sadness.
including the driver there are now 8 people dead, and still more hospitalized. Police has stated that the man gave as a motive "to attack and assasinate the Royal family". The queen was probably his main target. But of course also Crown-prince Willem-alexander and his wife Maxima and all the other princes and princesses who were on the bus. Queen's day (our most festive Dutch National holiday) will never be the same
. And for more tragic news, the memorial for public as well as survivors was disturbed by some crazy cult people from Germany, who said that it was everybody's own fault that they were hurt and dead, because of the religious differences in the world. WTF! And for xcalibur, it wasn't an accident, duh.
