The Newest Hollywood Diet Fad?

fame-rebecaa__opt.jpg

Rebecca Romijn gave birth to twins Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip this past December.

And, just a month later, Romijn was spotted (above) looking like she might have had a little tummy tuck while at the hospital.

But the blonde actress says that's not the case. According to Romijn, it's all thanks to breastfeeding.

REALLY????????

No exercise???????????

She claims she's already dropped 60 lbs of her pregnancy weight in just four months without any exercise.

She says, "I think within the first three weeks, I took off like 35 lbs. without doing anything! I haven't been able to work out that much because I have twins. It's impossible to get back into a regular schedule."

Damn people and their good genetics!!!!

But she adds, "I'm not pretending to be back to the shape I was in beforehand anyway. I still have a ways to go. We've got Spanx underneath almost everything."

And, on the plus side, she's apparently getting to eat more than usual. She claims, "It's like you have to eat 5,000 extra calories a day or you can't produce enough food for them. So, that's been fun as well."

Is that normal? To lose so much weight just from breastfeeding???

Breastfeeding is the best way to lose that baby weight! I lost 70 lbs with my 1st child! Way to go Rebecca!

    2. 2

      Go her!

And yes, it's totally normal to lose weight just by breastfeeding…especially with twins!

    3. KSC says – reply to this

      3

completely normal! good for her and the babies!!! yay for bfing!

    4. 4

actually some people can lose all the weight they put on from being pregant by breastfeeding. my sister did w/ her 1st child

    5. 5

Yes, she's probably telling the truth. I lost all my baby weight and then more from breastfeeding. Weight just melts off especially with twins, I just had one and you really lose a lot of weight when you breastfeed.

    6. 6

mario - your such an idiot. any real MD will tell you a tummy tuck cannot be performed after giving birth - whether it be natural or c-section. the body, esp the mid section is all stretched out - skin is similar to elastic and some of this droopyness goes away in the months following birth. after a c-section, everything needs to heal prior to any further surgery.
      *
can she loose that much weight breast feeding? i'm sure it's possible…..why are you trying to make it sound like she's a liar by questioning her statement?
      *
perez is a fudge packer who likes teenage boys - is this normal???

    7. 7

actually it is completely normal. Breat feed can cause about 1000 calorie deficet everyday for a breast feeding mother.

    8. 8

It's very normal, when babies are that young and mom's are exlusively breast feeding to feed their babies, you're burning calories doing nothing mulitple times a day/night. My sister in law was less then her pre-pregnancy weight after 6 months of breast feeding. Good for the baby and good for you! You just have to remember once you stop breast feeding you have to go back to a normal calorie diet!!

    9. 9

i lost 30 just sitting on my ass letting my kid suck on my boob. easiest diet plan ever.

    10. 10

i lost almost all my baby weight with the "boob in your babys mouth diet"… easiest dietz plan ever.

    11. 11

My sister in law basically disappears from only breastfeeding! So imagine two babies! She must eat quite a lot to keep up.

    12. 12

It is very common to lose weight from breastfeeding. However, my sister has gained weight from it. She has to eat more to produce enough milk, but not all of the food she consumes went to breastmilk.

    13. 13

      It's 500 calories a day - NOT 5,000.

And yeah, that's what you burn by nursing. Usually women lose all but the last 5-10 lbs.

    14. LEB says – reply to this

      14

Yep, just like everyone has said so far, its completely normal. Im about 20 lbs. less than what I weighed before I had my son.
And, youve got to eat ALL the time to keep up with the kid. All the nutrients go to them first, so youve got to eat twice as much to feed the baby and yourself.

    15. 15

She's right, P-Dub. I dropped to 90 pounds while nursing. Had the best body EVER! Then I stopped and my boobs took off to the Bahamas for a vacation. Bastards still haven't come back! Think you can locate them for me and blog their whereabouts so I can have a real rack again?

    16. Borah says – reply to this

      16

Perez, your gossip blog has gone downhill.

Where is this site going….and why is it in that handbasket??!!

    17. 17

It's totally normal. My sister couldn't keep any weight on after she had her baby. She started breastfeeding and it all fell off. She was her skinniest ever, yet she was eating for about four! She didn't get back to her pre-pregnancy weight until a few months after she'd stopped the feeding.

    18. 18

Yep, it is true. I am still breastfeeding my 6 month old and lost all the baby weight. Went from 150lbs down to 114lbs. No exercise! Making milk burns a lot of calories…and it's the best thing you can do for your baby too. Win-Win.

    19. 19

Although that may be a tad much, it is completely normal to lose a lot of weight if you are breasfeeding. Have you ever looked at a nursing cat or dog, their poor sides are all caved in and they eat constantly. I would say especially if you have two of them on you all of the time.

    20. 20

Yes, it is absolutely normal. Breastfeeding burns TONS of calories.

    21. 21

Hi it's true for me too !!! I drop all the wait within 2 weeks and i'm sure not a rich actress with private surgeon !!!!

    22. 22

Yep, totally normal. I was back in my pre pregnancy jeans 2 weeks after giving birth to my 3rd child and all I was doing was breastfeeding. It burns calories like crazy!!

    23. 23

      UrMajestyMsG:
Where are you pig nose? You always comment on pretty woman. I think you are the most jealous poster on Perez. I can't blame you with a face like that. :)

    24. 24

No, it’s not normal. While yes, you will lose weight from breastfeeding you have to also factor in the fact that she is a SUPERMODEL with supermodel genes. More than likely, as with most supermodels, she has been able to eat normally for most of her life and still have an unbelievably awesome body. Pregnancy is no different. The same rules just don’t apply to her. I mean look at Heidi Klum and her ability to do the VS runway in lingerie a mere 4 weeks after giving birth. They should put a disclaimer on these amazing women so that normal people don’t try to kill themselves to be the same as them.

    25. 25

      I think she's lying.

How is it that celebrities are super-humans or something? Do normal women lose weight that fast? If normal women lose weight at a rate like that, then I'd see it happening. But celebs aren't super-people

    26. 26

just had twins…guess i should of breast fed!!!!!….She looks awesome!!!

    27. 27

um, she is obviously doing something. anyone that has ever been on a diet knows that you either exercise like crazy or basically don't eat at all in order to lose weight. i mean 35 lbs in 3 weeks? please, you're doing SOMETHING.

    28. 28

Yes - you have to remember, the milk isn't coming from thin air, it's coming from the nutrients in your body.

You have to eat in order to make food for them, so a lot of the fat you may be eating is leaving the body in the form of breast milk.

it is definitely the best way to lose weight after pregnancy.

    29. 29

your obsession with people's bodies isn't right mario.

    30. 30

yes it is and it also makes your uterus go back to its normal shape by contracting the muscles.

    31. 31

Please - you lose some but not that much. Bitch had a tummy tuck!

    32. 32

I breastfed twins for 2 years (don't judge me!) & I lost 80 lbs. I was slightly overweight when I got pg & only gained about 50 during. So I ended up smaller than I had started.

    33. 33

Maybe uou should try this Mario. You're tits are big enough.

    34. 34

ummm yes!! damn perez you don't know shit!! Breast feeding is like magic! I lost about 30 lbs in 2 months from breast feeding- I believe her !! its not hard to get back especially if its your first pregnancy

    35. 35

Yup, yup. I gave birth 3.5 weeks ago and I've lost the 20lbs I put on plus an extra 10!

    36. 36

hahha lorrie amascato's house in the background, she's the reason rebecca looks so fab!

    37. 37

Absolutely - I was the skinniest ever after giving birth and breastfeeding. The weight falls right off very quickly, plus your boobs are big so it makes you look skinnier and you can eat whatever you want without gaining weight. I probably felt the sexiest ever when I was nursing - it was the way to go! They did an episode on Desperate Housewives where someone kept breastfeeding even though their kid was like 5 because it was the only way to keep skinny and then Lynette gave the kid a juicebox and it was all over for the mom cause the poor kid had been shown the light so to speak. It was hysterical!

    38. 38

Totally normal, especially for feeding 2 at the same time! Ahhhh, I miss the days of eating everything and anything I wanted!

    39. 39

Yep, it's possible. I weighed 170 when I gave birth (I am usually around 115, so I gain a lot when I am pregnant) I dropped 40 pounds in the first 2 months, and 2 years later and just weaned my son, I am back down to 115 with not one trip to the gym! You burn a lot of calories when nursing.

    40. 40

yup its true…Ive heard that my whole life….

    41. 41

That's how we do it! So many reasons to breastfeed…and only ONE selfish one…to lose the weight!!

    42. 42

Those of you that say its not possible have never had kids, or if you did, did not exclusively breastfeed.

    43. 43

She is totally full of shit. She is starving like all hollywood moms, and non moms. Calling bullshit on the wt loss from nursing, and extra bullshit on the 5000 calorie diet..please.

    44. 44

Re: uniqua – I think what she was saying is she has to EAT 5,000 calories a day to keep up the breast milk flow not that she burns 5,000 calories from breast feeding a day.

    45. Kate says – reply to this

      45

Yes absolutely. I had twins and only gained 20lbs during my pregnancy. I dropped it within the first 6 weeks from breastfeeding and by 6months I had dropped an additional 20lbs. You're also eating healthier because what you eat passes on to your babies. McDonald's french fries don't help babies to grow healthy. That, coupled with lack of sleep, being on the go all day, and a regular exercise routine, it's almost impossible to NOT lose the weight.

    46. 46

"We've got Spanx underneath almost everything." awesome

    47. 47

That's normal! If you gain a normal amount of weight (usually between 25-35 pounds) during your pregnancy, you will usually lose it all by the end of six or so weeks if you breastfeed. Your abdominal muscles will still be loose, and you'll have to exercise to get in the exact shape, but the weight itself will come off. If you have twins, you gain more during the pregnancy, therefore lose more during breastfeeding.

    48. 48

      Re: NAlexis25
Yeah, she breastfed. Look it up.

    49. 49

Re: Mamasita – Good for you, best thing you can do for your baby!

    50. 50

absolutely. I lost all of mine in a month (and I had gained about 30.) You just don't have TIME to eat and the bf'ing seriously helps.

    51. 51

      Yes, perez, it's true…

I lost 40 pounds of baby weight during the first year of breastfeeding. My son was born in February, so it's not like I could get out and do much right away, either.

      Congrats to RR…

    52. NiKiG says – reply to this

      52

Yes, absolutely normal. I lost all my baby weight within 6 weeks of having my baby. Breastfeeding is awesome, for mommy and baby. I've also seen women who couldn't breastfeed and have a hard time losing the weight without exercise.

    53. 53

Yes it is normal. You lose a ton of weight breastfeeding. The whole reason you put on weight in pregnancy is so you have a store of fat to make milk. People who whine on about the difficulty of losing baby weight are usually bottle-feeding.

    54. 54

Yup. I lost 25 pounds in first 10 days with breastfeeding. The other 20 stayed on a bit

    55. 55

it is to a point, but i think it has a lot to do with genetics also.

    56. 56

I had twins and was back to my pre-pregnancy weight a week after giving birth becasue all the wieght I had gained had gone to the babies. Twins require a lot of calories. I also breastfed for the first six weeks and lost even more weight so now I am skinnier than I was before the twins. People need to stop saying she is lying. If you have not had twins, you don't really know. That is just jealousy talking.

    57. 57

I wish I could have breastfed my twins… I lost 50 pounds after my 1st and 3rd. But once my twins came home from the NICU, I just wasn't making enough so great for Rebecca!

    58. Kyra says – reply to this

      58

Yes, yes it is common. I gained 26 pounds during my pregnancy (one baby) and within a week after having her, I was 10 pounds below my pre-prego weight. Breast feeding amps up your metabolism like you wouldn't believe.

    59. 59

Everything she said is perfectly true. We just covered this in the women's health course I'm taking. You can burn up to 600 calories/session breast feeding and it's the most effective way to lose that pregnancy weight.

    60. 60

      YES, it's true and normal.
It's not the new Hollywood diet, either. Women have been doing it since the beginning of time.
It's one of the MANY reasons why breastfeeding is better than formucrap. I mean formula

    61. 61

      Re: ValleyGirl30`
You are wrong valley girl. Is IS Normal.

    62. 62

      Re: JoeyDub
yes, normal women who breastfeed do shed the baby weight that fast.

    63. 63

Breastfeeding rocks!! I didn't have twins but I gained about 30 pounds when I was pregnant with my son and I'm over the age of 32. I was in my pre pregnancy clothes in 2 weeks and I actually lost an additional 10 pounds within 12 weeks of him being born.

    64. 64

      Re: Mamasita
No judging here. 2 years is the MINIMUM that a child should be breastfed, so you did good. :)

    65. @v@ says – reply to this

      65

Some women keep the weight on when nursing, and lose quickly when they're done, and others lose it while nursing. It's not a nutritionally sound idea to reduce calories while nursing to lose weight; new moms actually need to boost calories until they're done breastfeeding. Weight will come off fast if they return to normal eating after nursing.

    66. 66

breast feeding does help speed up weight loss, i breast fed for 2 months and ended up weighing less then when i got pg. but!! i did watch what i ate, i def was not eating 5000 cals or even half that extra to breastfeed. you know her ass aint eating that much. sorry dont beleive it. these people that say they lost weight by running around after kids or breast feeding or whatever are full of shit. she HAS to be watching what she eats and exercising. I've had 2 children and breastfed both!

    67. 67

It is true, your converting what your eating to provide food, which can burn calories. It also contracts/shrink the uteris which will then help flatten the stomach. Not everyone is so lucky to lose so much weight just from b-feeding. Being in shape prior to getting pregnant helps. Exercise during pregnancy definitley helps for the aftermath.

    68. 68

Yes Perez, jesus. I know you watched Desperate Housewives like a giddy little girl; don't you remember the episode where Lynette's coworker was still breastfeeding her 3 year old son cause it burns like 700 calories each time? Times that by two kids and numerous feedings during the day and BAM. You lose weight like crazy.

    69. 69

yes it is possible. i just had my baby in january and i'm quite small again mainly thanks to breastfeeding. still have 10 lbs before i'm back where i was prepregnancy though.
but i think it helps if you were in good shape before and could excersise during pregnancy.

    70. 70

Yes, breastfeeding helps contract the uteras back to it's normal size. So someone that is small and healthy like Rebecca will be able to get back to a normal size fairly quickly after having children since she's breastfeeding.

    71. 71

I think it's not normal, and she is probably not being honest, but oh well, who wants to discuss their diet plan with the whole world. Breastfeeding does help you lose weight, but 60 pounds in four months seems a bit extreme, without some diet, exercise, or surgery going on too.

    72. 72

They are all so full of crap….Just like everyone getting a c-section when in reality doctors have drastically reduced the number of times that they even do c-sections and it is now used as a last resort. Is't it funny that all the young healthy celebs are getting them….

    73. 29 says – reply to this

      73

yes it's normal you moron. i lost every bit of my baby weight 3 months after giving birth to both of my children, one of whom i did not breastfeed. anyone can lose weight. just quit stuffing your fat face with double cheeseburgers and take your ass for a walk!
and while you're working on that, why don't you try to stop being so judgmental of woman you sorry ass pig!

    74. SoCal says – reply to this

      74

You really are a fag, hilton - don't try and understand the straight hetero world-you crossed over to the dark side shortly after birth.

    75. 75

      one word: bullshit

    76. 76

      Totally a tummy tuck!!!

IF YOU HAD TWINS AS A SECOND PREGNANCY; YOU WOULD NOT LOOK LIKE THAT.

MY twins were both over 6 pounds when they were born AND when they left the hospital.

    77. 77

      Re: FM Queen – see # 6

    78. 78

it's true that you burn alot of calories by breastfeeding but her to say that she never exercise is bullsh_t…..wtf is she doing in the picture above (this is after she have birth). there are several pictures of her walking or jogging.

    79. 79

Completely normal!!! And it also depends on what you eat too. If you're a healthy eater while breastfeeding, you'll lose the weight. If you eat junk food which has no nutrition value, then the weight will stay on you.

    80. 80

all of those that think she's lying apparently haven't had children and talk outta their a$$es!!!! have some humble pie and stfu!

    81. 81

Re: zzzzzz25 – @ 76 - you have no idea what your talking about - a licensed MD would never complete a tummy tuck in the following weeks after giving birth. sounds like you just have shitty genes…….

    82. 82

Well I had this strange phenomenon that I couldn't eat at all during pregnancy. with the first kid I gained 1 pound, with the second, I gained 2 pounds. I couldn't drink coffee or alcohol right from the beginning, just the thought of it made me sick, but I had a real craving for cigarettes! so I had to lock them away! just after birth ( and I mean just after, about 5 minutes) i weighed myself, the kids weight was 6 pounds, I had lost 4 pounds, and within the next 10 days I lost another 4 pounds. Which means: you gain about 10 to 14 pounds, so my doc told me, just in child, placenta is half, and the other half is water. That you lose by doing nothing.. Means: if you had twins, it should be normal to lose 20 to 30 pounds, just everything to do with the baby and his body. …normal then

    83. 83

Some people don't gain much weight during pregnancy in the first place and then there are people who naturally loose it after giving birth. like for example my mother who always was naturally skinny and also my cousin.

    84. 84

Perez is jealous cause he can't lose weight.

    85. 85

I lost about 40 pounds in 2-3 weeks after having my son from breastfeeding. It was insane!

Visit my website to get tips on this and more at www.mommy-style.com

    86. 86

The baby sucking on your nipples causes your stomach muscles to contract, similarly to the muscle contraction you get from doing crunches. That is one of the benefits of breast feeding your infant that they point out to women that attend child birthing classes. Breast milk is best, and my daughter will be one year old in two weeks and has never been sick or had to see a doctor other than regular visits. My child also has almost a mouth full of teeth, walks, memorized half the alphabet so far, and is healthy and happy. I've noticed the sickly babies are the ones that exclusively get formula. Formula isn't horrible and it nourishes, but breast milk is so much better for your baby if your willing to make the effort and have the time.

    87. 87

it's bullshit. i'm breastfeeding still after 8 months of giving birth and i haven't lost the weight. it's just down to good genes (and surgery).

    88. @v@ says – reply to this

      88

Re: RobPnMeShouldB – Actually, Rob, I know a few ladies that got a mini-tuck at the same time they gave birth.

    89. 89

No questions here. She's had a tummy tuck. I speak from experience. And, if she's adding 5000 calories a day to breast feed she's headed for a bigger bod as well.

    90. 90

Yes, you lose SOME weight but not that much. Breastfeeding is more for mama than baby these days. Formulas are just as good and have been perfected to mimic mama's milk. Hell hath no fury like a new mama and a look what I'm doing for my baby though. They are just friggin' nuts on this subject without any real facts on formula. The only thing it does do better is cost nothing.

    91. 91

LOL, Perez…I love you. But you have to do some research on this one. Breastfeeding is the best and easiest way to lose weight after giving birth. I tell this to you as a mother of three who has spent a total of 43 months of her life breastfeeding. I had my third child last March and lost 40 of the 60lbs I had gained within the first four months. Unfortunately, that whole weight loss thing diminishes after that point and you have to add on exercise and calorie control or you will stay where you are at.

    92. 92

You most assuredly CAN get a tummy tuck after a C Section ! ! ! ! And, it's easier to DO. They just take off extra before they close.

    93. 93

Yes…Breastfeeding - my mother shrinked smaller than she had ever been 1 month after she had me…supposidly it really works all the muscles!!

    94. 94

That's a bunch of bullshit–that myth about breastfeeding. Yeah, you lose a lot of weight right after you have the babies: the babies, fluids, and afterbirth tissues are a lot of that weight. But if anyone attributes going back to their prebaby weight to breastfeeding, they are either lying or stupid. Losing weight while breastfeeding is problematic because as RRS says you have to eat a balanced diet since the babies are getting their nutrients from your milk. This is from someone who breastfed 2 kids!

    95. 95

I lost all my preg weight and more within 4 days after giving birth. Now with a daughter of 9 months I gained some weight but still weigh less than before my pregnancy. All coz of the bfeeding, which my daughter still loves the most!

    96. 96

Yep, it is totally normal if you were already healthy to begin with. I am 5'10” and naturally slender, much like Rebecca R, and I lost all of my pregnancy weight and then some while breastfeeding. Genes do play a part…I gained 35 lbs while pregnant, but lost the majority of the weight within 3 days of giving birth. I left the hospital wearing my size 6 jeans…granted I had to lay on the bed to button them!!!

    97. 97

HELL YEAH . . .I lost all my baby weight and more .. I am a size ZERO for freaks sake and my third child. . . I would probably disappear if I had to nurse twins!!!

    98. Token says – reply to this

      98

Yep. I breastfed both my kids, and for the most part the weight came off pretty easy. It's those *last ten pounds* that suck losing :-P Think about it. A LOT of calories gets burned just producing the food for your baby. (which is why you absolutely MUST eat a little more than you *normally* would.)

    99. 99

I dropped about 60 pounds in the first 4 months breastfeeding my son. It's the best way to lose weight after having a baby. And once the baby starts moving around… the weight drops quick too!! Good for her, although I am sure she had some extra help besides breastfeeding

    100. 100

yes normal to lose baby weight with breast feeding pregnant with my first and planning to breast feed.
