The Newest Hollywood Diet Fad?

Rebecca Romijn gave birth to twins Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip this past December.
And, just a month later, Romijn was spotted (above) looking like she might have had a little tummy tuck while at the hospital.
But the blonde actress says that's not the case. According to Romijn, it's all thanks to breastfeeding.
REALLY????????
No exercise???????????
She claims she's already dropped 60 lbs of her pregnancy weight in just four months without any exercise.
She says, "I think within the first three weeks, I took off like 35 lbs. without doing anything! I haven't been able to work out that much because I have twins. It's impossible to get back into a regular schedule."
Damn people and their good genetics!!!!
But she adds, "I'm not pretending to be back to the shape I was in beforehand anyway. I still have a ways to go. We've got Spanx underneath almost everything."
And, on the plus side, she's apparently getting to eat more than usual. She claims, "It's like you have to eat 5,000 extra calories a day or you can't produce enough food for them. So, that's been fun as well."
Is that normal? To lose so much weight just from breastfeeding???

Yes, I lost weight fast breastfeeding my first child. You can feel your uterus contracting while you are feeding .It was so weird but you get used to it. The hard part was making sure to eat more and too drink tons of water. Your so busy trying to keep up with the feedings that you really have to work hard to eat bigger heathier quantities.
breastfeeding will do that for you. i lost 15 lbs in two weeks with my daughter so i imagine twins are really going to suck the life out of you. lol
no i think its more on the lines on during her pregnancy she couldnt do her coke
now that she isnt pregnant she can do it!
breastfeeding? cmon thats such a cracked up reason for something please
i did meth and i lost 30 lbs in 3 months with out exercise too!!
and i had A LOT of friends who did coke and lost weight sooooooooo quickly and looked JSUT like celebs do with their body
seriously people why are you allllllll so blind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dont you question why YOU dont get skinny by doing nothing???
Yes yes totally normal - same thing happened to me with my twins! Lost all the preggo weight plus another 20 pounds, seriously. It was exhausting! However, now that my guys are and nursing less the weight is coming back on again yikes! (maybe I should cut back my 5000 calories a day? hahaha)
I lost all my baby weight in 5 days, with breastfeeding it just melts.
yup! I did it and I had twins too!
Depends on your genes! I think for most breastfeeding women, losing some weight quickly is pretty easy. BUT, I don't think most women can say 35 - 60 pounds lost quickly is easy, even when breastfeeding!
I lost all my weight plus 5 lbs more with my first one. It depends on your metabolism and genetics, too. If you are predisposed to being thin, then it does come off faster.
Re: zzzzzz25 –
Your reply is rather stupid. No doctor who knows what he is doing is going to do a tummy tuck so soon after birth. It will cause a HUGE amount of problems to do it that postpartum.
Re: nicachica17 –
You were probably obese before birth then.
Re: JoliAvocat –
Omg, THAT post is SO full of crap, I don't even know where to begin.
Formula is not EVEN CLOSE to mimicking breast milk. Even in this day and age formula lacks TWENTY-SEVEN ingredients that are key in breastmilk. Science has no way of duplicating them.
If you are going to defend formula at least have the facts.
Yep, not only do you lose the weight but your uterus contracts more quickly. The baby also gets a shitload of antibodies from the first few days of nursing a special clear fluid (colostrum) that is available before the milk comes in. Breast milk is affordable, healthy and abundant, in most cases. It is a wonderful way to bond too, babies love to be next to your skin. A final miracle… the more you nurse the more milk you make! How cool is that?
Re: suhrenuh –
*I* didn't get skinny by doing nothing. I BREASTFED!
Yes, that's pretty much true, especially with twins
Sorry, but she's full of SHIT!!! You can only eat an extra 500 calories and expect to still lose weight–twins or not. And it just does not fall off–especially for a 35 year old woman. She had surgery or is starving herself–and I bet anything she barely breast fed the kids.
I was back at my prepregnancy weight within 3 or 4 months breastfeeding
Yes! This is absolutely possible. I lost all my baby weight by breastfeeding and then some…I am 2 sizes smaller than I was pre-pregnancy (my baby is 9 months old) and I attribute that 95% to breastfeeding and 5% to walking a lot more and not sitting in front of a desk all day. You burn about 500 calories a day by breastfeeding - and that's just one baby!
A
Yes it is! I highly recoemmend it besides its better for your baby which is teh most important reason to do it. I was thinner right after having my last baby then I am now, a year and a half later and no longer breast feeding.
breastfeeding burdn 500 calories a day just from sitting there. God bless nature huh?!!!
Re: nicachica17 – That's because you have a really good, efficient body that is hormonally conserving your calories because it knows you're nursing. Most of it will drop off AFTER you're done nursing and your hormones normalize, if you lower your caloric intake to pre-pregnancy. Your pooch will never quite be the same, though, unless you get a mini tuck. Your hips will be just a little wider, as will your waist line. Unless you're a workout obsessed freak, and who has time for that with a little one.
Listen; some women produce more of the hormone that causes them to purposely retain extra body fat after they give birth, which helps ensure the survival of the species. Some women have less of that hormone, and the weight drops off right away. It's actually a good and desirous thing when women's bodies do that. Women who are too thin can short change a nursing baby nutritionally unless they're very knowledgeable about and dedicated to their nutrition. So all of these different stories are true, and none of them are bullshit. We are all different.
I lost about that much in 4 weeks when I had my daughter. Breastfeeding really burns the calories!
Experts believe that a huge benefit to nursing over formula is that a nursing baby is granted a large share of the mother's natural immunity while the baby is forming its own, lesser developed immune system. Many babies get their first colds, ear infections, etc., after nursing stops. Another benefit is the bonding, the convenience, and the price, apart from those 27 or even more extra key ingredients found so far in breastmilk, as Re: My kids mom – so aptly states. Even breastfeeding for a day, a week or 3 weeks is better than not breastfeeding at all, if you just can't manage it long term. Kids that breastfed generally also score higher across the board academically later. Of course, this is not true for all kids. A smart kid is a smart kid, bottle or breast, but to nurse is the ideal scenario from what is known now medically.
I also lost 70 from breastfeeding. I was tired all the time but it was so worth it.
i gained 30 pounds while pregnant with my baby girl (started at 118). now she's 8 weeks old and i'm 115, so 3 pounds lighter. i had an emergency c-section and was only cleared for excersize THIS week, so it's definitely not from excersizing, and my husband is in the military, can't afford no tummy tucks here lol i think it is all due to breastfeeding. and eating right. it's true you have to increase your calorie intake, but that doesn't mean by eating chocolate. fruits and veggies and healthy stuff.
Ah, yes!!! I have breast feed and you do lose more weight. The fact she had twins makes that even more so. And, if you do not eat the baby will not get enough milk. So, you have to eat but you do lose more weight. And, it makes the stomach go way down. I hope it was not TMI but you did ask.
Sheba,
Re: surfgirl – be serious. yes if you starve your self for a while yes you will lose weight but then it backfires on you and you stop losing weight because your metabalisim slows way down
but yes i do believe her, after 4 months with twins, and shes BF? good for her
YES~~ i have friends that breast fed and friends that didn't. The ones that did looking amazing and their children are healthy with great immune systems! The ones that didn't have are the opposite, kids with lots of health issues and they kept weight on or gained more.
Yes it's true…Beast feeding contracts the uterus, stomach….u actually exercise while sitting down
she's so full of shit
Ummm ya-she had twins which means super weight loss and super weight loss from breastfeeding. When I had my daughter-my stomach went flat afterwards. I droped 50 lbs in no time.
Nope. If that were true then every single woman that gave birth and breastfed would be slim like that 4 months after giving birth.
COME ON NOW!!!!
Its totally true…I have barely worked out and I weigh 5 lbs less than before I even got pregnant!!!
she looks great not crazy skinny just like she is in good shape! Good for her! GO GIRL WITH YOUR BAD SELF!!!!!
She is probably telling the truth, it is totally possible to lose that much weight from breast feeding. I did, and so did most of my friends who breastfed their babies !
Its totally normal. I lost all of my baby weight PLUS 10 pounds in about a month after giving birth.
Re: JoliAvocat – Where are you getting your facts?? This subject always gets me going. Anyone who doesn't believe her hasn't had a kid. I lost all my baby weight and more from breastfeeding. I was eating all the time too. 35 pounds in 3 weeks is totally possible with twins especially (and her good genes). Formula is NOT the same as breast milk. Look at the ingredients on formula. Or better yet, just taste both and tell me if they taste the same.
I gained why breastfeeding. It doesn't work for everyone. A few friends of mine also gained. Wish it worked for me!!!
probably, but still these stars seem to be getting in shape faster then the average person. but hey, it's there job. if we had nothing else to do then get in shape, we all would look like them.
This is fantastic news for me. I'm pregnant with my first and have always had the intention of breastfeeding, just because I have always thought it was healthier for the baby. But losing the baby weight is an added incentive.
Go boobs! Yet another reason to love funbags.
Yes. Breastfeeding is good for everyone!
True! Breastfeeding makes the pounds fly off!
i was 145 pre baby 308 after and i droped all that wieght in about 8 months breastfeeding and maybe a walk every now and then but if it wasnt for the breastfeeding i would probably still be 300 pounds luckely im back down to 145
I'm guessing JoliAvocat (comment number 90) works for a baby formula manufacturer
A breastfeeding mother will typically burn an extra 500 calories per day, for each child fed…so she's burning at least an extra 1000 cal/d. And in general, women who give birth to mulitples tend to reach pre-baby weight much quicker than women who had a single baby.
Yeah its completely normal cuz you're body has to work so hard to produce the milk and she has two.
