Eclipse Director Apologizes

Filmmaker David Slade is doing some major backpeddling after a Tweet from his now defunct Twitter account read, "Twilight drunk? No, not even drunk. Twilight on acid? No, not even on acid? Twilight at gun point? Just shoot me."
But fate works in mysterious ways, and Slade has been hired to direct the third film in the franchise called Eclipse, causing Slade to explain himself to rabid tween Twilight fans.
Slade wrote in an email:
"When I made these comments, I had neither seen the film nor read the books. I was promoting a comedy short film that I had made for Xbox and every pop culture subject was seen as a possible comedy target. I was being silly and none of the statements were from the heart.
"Of course, I have since seen the movie and read the books and was quickly consumed with the rich storytelling and the beautifully honest characters that Stephenie Meyer created.
"I would like to reassure everyone involved that I am invested in making the best film that I am humanly capable of, and that I am acutely aware of the power of the original books we serve."

Yes, because when I think "Twilight", I think "beautifully honest characters" I think about the whiny, emo Bella and the overly fake, one note "man" that is Edward Cullen.
I do enjoy the books for what they are- stupid, fantastical romantic fluff, but don't try to make them out to be anything more than this.
Oh the irony of David Slade being the director of "Eclipse", moving from one unintentionally hilarious vampire movie ("30 Days of Night") to another…
The whole Twilight thing is getting a little ridiculous now. But the moral of this story: every man has his price.
David Slade shouldn't have to apologize. The movie was terrible, he was right to say that. I'm pretty bummed out he took back what he said.
I don't care what the fuck he thinks as long as he makes a good movie. Now that he had a taste of how crazy this fandom is, he'll think twice before screwing things up.

i think thats what is wrong with these directors, they do not read the books and that is why the first twilight was a bit off… had they done their homework and read it not once or twice but a few times to get everything (or you can get it loaded on your ipod and work while listening thats what i did) so details are right.

He's an awesome director 30 Days of Night kicked ass, so did Hard Candy. I LOVEDDDD Eclipe and trust he'll do a great job. I know alot of people that want him out now because of this, but I think that his opinion will only make for a better movie.

I read them a couple of months before it exploded, and as soon as i realised that it was going to be so huge with 12 year olds, i almost cried.
