Paula Is Getting Paid Pennies Compared To Simon!

Paula Abdulhas a lot going on right now.
She'll be performing her new single tonight on Idol and, hopefully, will be getting a full album out by the end of the year.
But, she also has reportedly started contract negotiations for returning to the hit competition show. Though most people have speculated that Kara DioGuardi was added to replace the "nice judge", sources close to Abdul and the Fox network seem hopeful an agreement can be reached and she will return for next season.
The biggest hang up? Money, of course. But check this out:
While fellow judge Simon Cowell makes $36 million a season, Paula only makes $2 million.
Fair? We think not!
According to the Los Angeles Times: "Fox had no official comment for this story, saying it does not speak about contract negotiations."
Paula deserves more than that!

No, you've got it all wrong. The people who "deserve" to make a lot of money are the people who put their lives on the line for us: fire fighters, cops, the military. NO one needs to make that kind of money for travelling around to auditions and giving their opinions.
Simon is one of the producers of the show though, and he is arguably more valuable to the show than Paula is. Doesn't he sign the finalists onto his record company after they win too?

Simon deserves every friggin' dime.
He created the show. He is why the show works. He is the star maker.
That's to Idol, Paula has a career. She was a total has-been until this show. No one cared about her (and I still don't think anyone cares). $2million is too much to give her. Give her little pills and send her away.
Relatively speaking 2 million dollars is nothing to sneeze about. I'm sure the way they see it Paula can be replaced but there would be no Idol without Simon.
Paula is the one that usually confuse everything… They need a comedian in the whole thing…. they need to pay her more. What about Miss Secreats ?

Oh Please, for years, all Paula has done is sit there and babble incohearently while Simon has drawn people to watch the show with his insiteful, and sometimes wicked commentary. People would continue to watch if Paula left, but the show would take a HUGE hit if Simon left. NOBODY wants to watch a show where a judge just sits there and says "Um, you were true to yourself and that is all you can do" after every song. Frankly I think she is overpaid.

Simon makes that much because he helped create and now is one of the producers of the show. If you are going to compare salaries, find out how much Randy makes. Way to make something out of nothing

You know who SHOULD be dropped from the show? Randy effing Jackson. He never makes headlines the way the other three judges do, he never says anything on the show that's of any use to the contestants or even entertaining, and he's sort of an insufferable jackass. Keep both ladies and Simon, and let Randy go.
Nobody, I do not care who you are, deserves 2 million a year for sitting in a chair and judging people. I will do her job better then her, for 1/20 the pay. Screw that, this whole entertainment thing is out of control. There are people in the USA that cannot feed themselves, yet, here is Paula, making 2 mil a year for doing nothing. Anyways I don't think the ammounts are confirmed so why speculate about it? Simon deserves his pay but so does Paula! However…she needs to toughen up in her critiques and not be so dewy eyed and ga-ga over every performer.
I think Simon is technically one of the producers. He has a lot more to do with Idol than just judging.

I like Paula a lot and I like Simon alot. I think the show would be ruined if Simon left, not so sure about Paula. I don't think anyone should make 36million a year for doing what he does. THat is just ridiculous. I don't think he should be making that much more then her either.
Ummmm, Simon has more credits on the show than just judge, he produces and created it. Its his show- she shouldn't make the same, she doesn't do as much. How much does Randy make, that's who to compare her salary to.

Is anyone actually sure that Simon MAKES $36 mill? googled it and it always came back to Nigel Lythgoe telling an Austrailian Newspaper that. Who knows if he knows or if he was BSing the paper or if HE told the PAPER at all? It seems like an awful lot of money ON TOP OF HIS RECORD DEAL WITH IDOL. They make a shitload of money–they recently showed how much they make in Boston–many over $100,000/year, and more with details, etc. Plus they make huge amounts in their pensions, which they start collecting very young!! They rob the taxpayers money too–they can retire with bigger amounts if they are injured while filling in for the captain–so of course they all do that!!
No. Paula does not deserve more. No one deserves to make so much money for doing so little. Simon is a business genius so he earns what he makes, but Paula is just there, mostly high and talent free.
