Trina Johnson-Finn, a Las Vegas entertainer and impersonator, was arrested after she pretended to be Toni Braxton in a concert in Paramaribo, Suriname in South America.
Prosecutors claim Toni Trina attempted to fool the crowd in the concert which took place over two months ago.
However, Trina's husband, Raymond Finn, says she was the victim of a local con artist and "concert promoter" who was responsible for scamming the concertgoers into thinking the realBraxton would be perfoming.
The truth came out once Trina was on stage and she messed up a note at the beginning of the second song. That's when people in the 3,000 large crowd started to boo and began throwing trash at the stage!
Authorities then took Phony Tina and Raymond into custody. They'll have to go to court on May 26th after being charged with defrauding the people who bought tickets. Finn was later released without being charged after two weeks in custody though.
Prosecutor Duncan Nanhoe alleged yesterday that Trina "deliberately presented herself as being Toni Braxton during the concert."
As for the promoter, Angel Ventura of Events for Suriname, he was finally found and arrested on Monday in a local bar. And during an telephone interview from Las Vegas, Raymond claimed Ventura, without Trina's knowledge, was the one who promoted her as the real Braxton.
Finn added, "Trina's been isolated there for two months. She doesn't understand why she's being used as a scapegoat." Adding that he believes she's been arrested "to appease public anger."
Sounds a bit too much to have the poor lady in jail for two months awaiting the court date.

They promoted the show as the real Toni would perform and later a fake one took the stage. she and her manager then flet and went into hiding. scammed hunderd of people here and took all their money.
I didn't go, because I didn't trust this at all, but she does deserve that jail and will get more time soon!!

Although the real criminal, SCAM PROMOTER ANGEL VENTURA has been captured, on 5/5/09, Trina was denied release and another new trial date has been set for 5/26/09. No speedy trials in Suriname.
Trina Johnson-Finn is an entertainer who has sung back-up for the likes of Barbra Streisand and MC Hammer and on Oprah. She also works in the celebrity tribute industry. She does a tribute to several different iconic singers.
She was hired in February to impersonate Toni Braxton for a "private party" in Suriname South America. She went on stage and was booed and had things thrown at her. They had to rush her off-stage. As it turned out, the client was a "promoter" scam artist who had promoted her to the Suriname people as the real Toni Braxton and sold tickets. He skipped town with all the proceeds before Trina took stage. On March 1, 2009, the authorities took Trina and her husband, Raymond, who was a by-stander in the whole thing, into custody and charged them with fraud and swindling. Raymond spent 2 weeks in jail. Trina is still there. Her trial is scheduled for May 7th. She faces a 3 year sentence.
Trina was Not the Guilty party here. She was just doing a Gig as a Tribute Artist A.K.A. Toni Braxton. It is the Promotor who Scammed the Ticket Buyers and Sold the Tickets and Trina as The Real Toni Braxton{I'm guessing, to get more Cash $ for the show} and Ran off with the cash! Anyone who has Nasty Stuff to say about Trina, or thinks she Deserves What she got, is too Stupid to be here! I Am a Tribute Artist and Know Trina and her plight. She has been treated Unjustly and Needs To Come Home to The States! Trinas' Only guilt here, is Simply Wanting To Do Her Job and Please Her Audience, And Believing The Promotor and Leaving the Safety of her home Country and traveling to Surinam Without the Proper Papers from said "Promotor", assuring her Safety and No Fault status!
