Paula Abdul is claiming there's absolutely no truth to the story in the June issue of Ladies Home Journal detailing her battle with addiction!
The article in which she ON-THE-RECORD!
According to LHJ, Abdrool struggled with weening herself off the medications prescribed to treat her chronic pain. The mag even QUOTED Paula as saying, "I could have killed myself…Withdrawal – it’s the worst thing."
Paula called into WKQI's Mojo in the Morning in Detroit Thursday morning to clear the air!
"I've never checked into a rehab clinic. I've never been addicted or abused drugs, and I've never been addicted or abused alcohol. I've never even been drunk in my life," stated Abdul.
And what about the Idol judge's stay at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California last fall to detox from the hardcore pain meds??
"It's a spa. I was there for almost three days having fun doing spa stuff. It's not a clinic. It's not a detox place. It's a luxurious spa. It's like taking a mini vacation. I just wanted to chill out and get massages and maybe a manicure and pedicure."
By the looks of the La Costa website, Abdrool appears to be telling the truth!! About that.

i live next door to la costa resort and spa and it is just that…a resort and spa. it is in no way a rehab clinic in any way, shape, or form. that being said….homegirl still looks like she could use rehab. something is NOT right with her…

It's true. I've been t La Costa a few times and it's just a Spa. Mud baths and all…no rehab about it. When I first read about this, I believed it until I read it was at La Costa; it doesnt make sense. Paula being a pill head makes sense though, so who the fuck knows?

I read the LHJ article..she said she had a bunch of back and or knee surgeries due to her laker girl days, that's how she got hooked on painkillers. Theres no way that she acts the way she does, shes NEVER been drunk??!!!!???that;s total bs!!!

she's an idiot. just weeks ago she said she NEVER touched drugs in her life.she even said that after her numerous neck surgeries (another lie) the doctors wanted her to take prescription pain killers and she said NO WAY i'll deal with the pain with other ways. what bullshit this jackass lie's so much i don't think she's even capable of telling the truth.

We are not a drug rehab facility! That's funny tho. Especially since I would read glitch reports about hotel guests being found passed out drunk on the lawn or in the bushes….not to mention the shitfaced spa guests who were too drunk to have their treatment. Ha.
I remember when Paula was there tho. Good grief.
She HAS been to rehab, for an eating disorder, in the 90s in Tulsa, Oklahoma…my mom worked there.

I don't know about the whole pain killers story I only know that I love Paula she rocks
First of all, it is obvious to everyone, and made clear by Paula herself, that she has chronic pain conditions due to work-related injuries, and has need medication for pain relief. So either she is still taking the pills, or her chronic orthopedic conditions have been fixed, which is highly doubtful, and/or she has detoxed. Either way, power to her for working so hard in her career to achieve the level of whatever it is that girl does. Hopefully she is experiencing less pain, and able to take less medication. Its too bad that in Hollywood, everyone has to micro manage their image. Madonna, and now Lady GaGa know exactly how to manage image without getting defensive.
IF she has REFLEX SYMPATHETIC DYSTROPHY then YES SHE IS A MAYJAH PILL POPPER. It's one of the or if not THE MOST PAINFUL disease to get. Opiates in huge doses are the ONLY treatment for these people. IF she doesn't have the disease and she is just a run of the mill pathetic drug addicted puke then she deserves to be picked on. RSD has the highest suicide rate of any disease - have some compassion for the truth.

It's foolish for her to deny being on anything during AI or at other times. It's on tape. Also on tape is an incoherent interview. Also hard to believe she had such terrible chronic pain that somehow just went away overnight, since she is now dancing and singing again. She would be better off admitting she had a problem and got help for it.
She doesn't sound as drugged up as she used to…I think she switched from oxycontin to vicodin
Paula may still be a pill popper. I have Reflexive Sympathetic Dystrophy too and it's the most awful thing I've ever had to go through. Seriously, I take vicodin and it doesn't even help. I couldn't imagine being in Paula's position having to be in front of cameras and dealing with this disease when I've had a bad day…I might look bad too! I'm so happy that Paula has shown that you can live a successful and happy life with this disease, not too many doctors even believe this exists and by her saying she has it, she's a great role model for all of us who suffer. RSD sucks!

Well, just more freakin' spin. I read a story YEARS ago about her battle with pain pills due to a back injury? or fibromyalgia? or some kind of over-usage body pain. I remember it clearly because I had just had back surgery, and commiserated with her struggle, and appreciated her candor in the article; OR people were going around writing biographic articles that were completely made up from known little facts. Boing.
AI NEVER should have put Abdrooly on during the same night that Stefani was performing. There's the difference: Stefani actually PERFORMED. She sang. The drooling, pathetic mess that is Paula never even pretended. So what was up with the double mic? Put one over your mouth then sing into a stand-up? Yeah, that made as much sense as her comments on the contestants.
regardless of if this place is really just a spa or something more than a spa, something is not right with paula… definitely seems like pills have been (and continue to be) in her system… im convinced she has an earpiece that she listens to in order to comment on performances on idol- seriously, the shit and sayings she comes up with cannot be her own spontaneous thoughts- watch for it (her left ear) - youll see what im talking about!
