No, not their best but at least she was actually singing. Could not believe that Paula Abdul had the balls to go on her own show AMERICAN IDOL - all about singing - and lip sync. THAT is pathetic. She is Britney Spears plus 20 years.

What are you talking about Perez? It was not painful to watch or listen to. Gwen's voice was not on par with her usual fantastic live singing but it was still better than when most people sing live. As for her performance she was great.
She's too old to be dressin like that anymore, She's trying way too hard to be young again and it ain't workin!
I like this better than Paula's performance. I'd so rather see the artist freakin sing live. If not, what is the point? A million dancers could outdance Paula or Britney if the only criteria is to dance and mouth the words.

I'm so sad. I couldn't even finish watching the video. I was a huge No Doubt fan. Huge. I saw her when she opened for BUSH, forever ago. She was young, new, tons of energy and was just loving performing. She had the crowd on thier feet the whole time…..and she was just the opening act. They were amazing. I saw her a few years back, just her self, it was extremely disappointing. She had become this commercialized person. It was as if she…….sold out. There was no dancing, jumping, electric energy that she once had. It was terrible. I really missed the NoDoubt days, so when I heard the new of them getting back together I was super excited and hopeful…….but, she just isn't the same Gwen- the one from NoDoubt. It's so upsetting. And you're right Perez, what is up with her voice? Awful. And the song choice was thier first hit, so upsetting she butchered it. I miss the old Gwen.

i just saw no doubt a couple days ago at bamboozle and they were soooooo amazing. everything was perfect. the sound was great and gwen hit every note and looked incredible doing it. compared to the idol performance, something definitely wasn't right.
I've seen her live in concert as "Gwen Stefani" and she sounded perfect. Maybe she just needs to get back use to singing rock and jumping around like that. As a solo artist, she didn't jump around that much, just walked around the stage a lot. She'll get back into the groove I'm sure.
If anyone needed to lipsynch last night, it was Gwen. That was truly awful.
What do you expect? Gwen's gotten older and her voice is changing, nothin' wrong with that. Geez, Tragic Kingdom came out over 10 years ago, Gwen's not gonna sound like she did in her twenties. Give her a break Mario. No matter what, she will always be e'fin hot to me!

This is what people actually sound like when they are singing live while jumping all around. I grew up in the 70s/80s and saw MANY live concerts and without all the "help" of today, people didn't sound exactly like the radio, finally someone who gives a REAL performance and not just a show.

I have to go on here and defend my girl Gwen. If you look back to classic No Doubt, this is how her voice was to reflect the ska/punk genre of No Doubt. She's trying to get away from where she was with pop to return to her rock group. She'll find a happy medium soon, she's just gotta get back into it. They rocked it at Bamboozle… she's such a presence!
Well, if anyone here actually listened to No Doubt live before Gwen's solo work, you would know that is how she sings live. They were FUN! Can't wait to see their shows here in So. CAl.

I saw them in 1997 in the Tragic Kingdom tour, and she sounded exactly the same back then. I love No Doubt, but they suck as a live act.

I saw back in 97 and she sounded like that then too. She's an awesome performer, but I don't like that thing she does with her voice…but they are an energetic band to watch, which I love! At least she actually sang!
On NO DOUBTS last tour, they didn't do much of their classic songs and disapointed a lot of longtime fans. Now that they announced they're going on tour without a new CD, makes it sound like the car/house bills are piling up.
Gwen is a BABE, but that pre-taped performance was like they weren't giving their all. Seems other Idol pre-taped aren't the best either, so we won't single out NO DOUBT.

i think she sounded awesome. yes, she was winded, but she was jumping up and down and running all over the place, which is one of the reasons no doubt has always been so fun to watch. she has amazing energy. gwen has never just stood there and sung a song - she's always upbeat and getting everyone into it. i think she rocked - and she looked awesome. i love that she went all old school with her hair and outfit. no doubt rocks! MUCH better than any of the other "artists" they've had on (daughtry? paula abdul? ruben studdard? gag.)
Should've trained up a bit, Gwen, then you wouldn't lose your breath so very quickly. Can't see that boding well for the start of the tour.

I agree with the other commenters this is how Gwen's always sounded when she does Just a Girl live, personally i like it even though she sounds more melodic on the album version. It did sound technically different though, I think it was the AI sound that was off because it all sounded a bit muffled, including ryan's voice at the end. ( a lot of 'sounds' in here, sorry my vocabulary is failing me today;) )
they're a little rusty, but that's to be expected after not performing together for so long. but i will always live them!

This is how No Doubt performs live. Its always been this way. High Intensity, Rocking the fuck out, NO LIP SYNCHING! This is one thing I LOVE about Gwen Stefani and No Doubt. They've been doing this forever. They started in a garage and they are still humble, down to earth and true to their roots. I'd rather watch Gwen a little out of breath than Britney completely lip synching ANY DAY.
It was like watching a car wreck, It's horrible, and you want you to turn away, but you just can't believe that you are seeing something so awful.
OH Perez! This is how a human being sounds when they put on a sick-ass rock show. She jumps around and dances and goes crazy, so you can't expect everything to be supported and sounding just like the album version. Plus it hasn't gone through auto-tune, nor does it sound like a live pre-recording. They are a rock band this is what they do.
Did you see her performance on the Today show recently? I had to turn away actually. Kind of embarrassed for her.
She was awesome! Raw, live. PLUS the tempo was faster than usual. combine that with running around. I loved it!
Well it sounds like the band is playing faster, hence her out of breath speed. lol. Going back to ska after a balad solo career I am sure if a lot different. LOTS of JUMPING lol.
She's older than she was when she first sang this song. Her voice has gone through changes through life and fluctuating hormones from being pregnant. To top that off, she was running and jumping around on stage. While it's not as good as her recorded work it's probably better than what 75 percent of all American can do.
