Star Trek pulled in an impressive $7 million in ticket sales on Thursday night alone!
The film, directed by Lost's J.J. Abrams, is expected to earn up to $75 mil by the end of the weekend, an impressive feat for a franchise formerly exclusive to the sci-fi crowd.
The hype paid off!

I got to see this on one of Paramount "Word of Mouth" Screenings on Wednesday and it was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. JJ did a great job with a great franchise!
i can't believe how much i loved this movie. i usually hate star trek episodes but the movie was AMAZING!! never a boring part.

I am going to go see Star Trek simply because it is STAR TREK, but I would like to note that a 15 foot Zachary Quinto is hard to pass up as well - even if he is spocked out. Good lord that man is sexy.

Well, I went to see it today after college. I loved it! I'm not a Trekkie/Trekker/Star Trek fan, and I did sort of go to see it because of Chris Pine but by the middle of it I very much realised the movie was really good and I sort of got into it a lot. Well, I definately jumped at some points, one in particular when Kirk is on the white snowy planet.
Simon Pegg's Scotty is hilarious and Karl Urban's Bones McCoy is absolutely fantastically hilarious and mad. Even Anton Yelchin was funny. It was a well picked cast and the film had the right balance of comedy and action. Well done to JJ Abrams, he got this one right.
Zoe Saldana is a hottie too but not in the photo. wassup with that.

Re: Hoss Boss – william wanted to much much to ressurect his role, so jjabrams opted to go with a full new cast and put more into the movie than in one actors wallet…shatner then tired to get on board at the last minute but jjabrams declined.
Hotties is right! Can't wait to see it…been a Trekker since I was little. Spock is my all time favorite, but I can't wait to see Simon Peg as Scotty!

I saw the movie Thursday night - and it was AWESOME! I LOVED IT! I'm not a Star Trek fan, but it was amazing! SO entertaining!
Re: Hoss Boss – They offored William Shatner a part and he passed it up because he said it wasn't a big enough part. Then we was quoted talking about how he could not believe they did not write him a bigger part because people would go out to see him and he would bring in the money. Well we see the really needed him…not!
This movie is amazing. never a dull moment. From the opening credits to the end credits, the move is full of action. JJ did it. Cant wait for the next one.

It's a great start to a new journey. I like that fact that it continues the "hope" that was central to the original Trek, and I hope it gives way to a new sci-fi that looks at the future in a less bleak way. Stories like Pyramids of Mars (www.pyramidsofmars.com) the free online digital graphic novel come to mind. Sure, it's a big scale sci-fi story about an alien invasion with great graphics, but it's also hopeful about the future and humanity. And that's what we need. That's what Gene Roddenberry was talking about.

It was a fantastic movie! It took me over a year to give STNG a chance, so it's not easy to accept new players, but OMG, they did amazingly well! If you ever wondered what the crew was in the early days, this movie is a must-see. They truly did the original cast proud.
