Dancing Stars in Footloose

It seems the producers of the remake of Footloose are looking to keep the cast close. Like, in the same family kind of close.
It was earlier reported that Julianne Hough is up for the leading lady role in the dance remake. Now, it seems her brother, Derek Hough, is getting in on the action. Derek confirms that he "hasn't auditioned yet", but is in talks with people close to the project.
Derek is no stranger to the production; He originated the lead role of Ren in the 2006 West End production of Footloose the Musical.
Um, let's hope he isn't vying for that role in the film. We don't need to see any siblings going at it.

He received raving reviews when he performed the role in London, and received a nomination for London Theatregoer's Best Newcomer Award for 2006. He also won People Magazine's poll for who should star in this role. He won by a landslide.

jullianne should let her brother have this one. this show was his first. he's closely associated with it in the uk. julianne will have plenty of other opportunities.

Who knows who was considered first? There were alot of fan suggestions for Derek on the net and it seems like that lead to the polls and maybe to Derek being considered also. The suggestion that they would cast both in the lead roles is pretty silly. Derek would be great as Ren. Fabulous really. Julianne could play Rusty. That's a great part also and they could both be in the movie that way. Either way they should absolutely go with Derek. He's great.
Derek would be perfect for this part so I hope that Julianne hasn't changed so much that she would step on her own brother in order to get ahead. What happened to country music? She'll drop those fans as fast as she dissed the dancing fans if she gets a shot at acting. Go Derek!!

I think he would do a great job. He's a great dancer especially when he's got that hair flopping around and not slick back. But of course, we wouldn't want both siblings in the movie. They just CAN'T do that!
