Mia Farrow Ends Fast

After 12 days and at the orders of her doctor, Mia Farrow has quit her fast for Darfur.
Her doctors feared she may suffer seizures if she continued the fast, of which Farrow wrote, "I am fortunate. The women, children, and men I am fasting for do not have that option."
Someone else will be taking up the fast for her.
We didn't know people starved for good attention!

Why don't you fast for Darfur too Mario? You could do some good and loose some weight too.
I guess she realized that no one cared that she was "fasting." Why did she think that the world would care if she died of starvation? Who the hell cares ? Mia, you're nobody! Take your Geritol and go play Bingo. Shit. Stupid.

She's no Gandhi. Bless her for trying, but I think there are better ways for her try to help the people of Dafur than starve herself.
It's great she brings attention to the issue but a hunger strike? There are better ways. It's nice she cares that much and it's nice she wants those people to have better, but in reality, we in this country have little to no idea what we are talking about when it comes to these things as there is far more to this than starvation, and I'm not sure how starving yourself helps. Caring is great but reality always triumphs. Sadly.

This is no joke! I was appalled at the media's lack of attention of this very famous actress/activist! I just pray that she's okay and that one day she finds a more poignant way of getting the peoples' attention to this very important cause.

Apparently Mia didn't get that IRA memo: The point of a fucking HUNGER STRIKE is to slowly commit suicide until the change you want happens or you die. You don't stop because your doctor tells you it isn't safe - no SHIT it isn't safe. It's a fuckin hunger strike.

Actually, "Lisa1023," there ARE people that care, you obviously just aren't one of them. At least Mia walks the talk, and draws whatever attention she can to the plight of these poor people, while the rest of the world just sits and does nothing. Yet another example of a child from a "well-to-do" family who goes to extremes to get attention for starving nations. Has it never occurred to her that her energy might be better used IN THE EFFORT to get the food to the people and not just to get attention on herself?
haven't you heard of a hunger strike? that is what many women did in the early 20th century to bring attention to women's rights.

She's obviously not doing that to draw attention to herself, and just because she went on a hunger strike doesn't mean she didn't try OTHER means to fight for Darfur. You go on a hunger strike when all the other things you've tried have proved inefficient. If she uses the fact that she's famous to do something like that, kudos to her!
No one gave a fuck if she starved herself to death, so she stopped. Richard Branson will do a three day fast to take her place. Way to make an effort rich people. Why don't you take some of your billions of dollars and buy food to send to Darfur.

PurpleDocs, you obviously commented on something you know nothing about. One of the problems in Darfur right now is that they kicked out humanitarian workers and cut off much of the aid to the area. A billion dollars would do nothing without government support at this point.

Perez, I love you, but…. fasting as a form of protest is an old and often used technique - Ghandi did it (its non-violent), Nelson Mandela fasted in prison, Viet Nam protesters around the world did it - please check out some histiory before putting down a challenging and difficult way to personally protest something ones cares deeply about.
