And how can she contradict herself by bringing up those photos? " I was seventeen…you need to take a wide variety of shots…it was a windy day." She justifies her photo shoot by blaming it on the nature of the industry. How can you say you have Christian values now but justify taking semi-nude photos because that's just the way of the model industry? If she had values wouldn't she have stood UP to the norms of the modeling industry? The reason is that it's easier to find support for this gay marriage issue than it is to find support for little-known celebrities with exposed photographs. She is playing sides against each other and being divisive. Miss America should not be about division. She's using politics and it's not admirable at all. Mentioning obama and the secretary of state? using "fanmail" as proof of her being right? That's speaking through other people.

This is the epitome of ignorance and narrow-mindedness and I am ashamed to have someone like Carrie Prejean representing my state. There is so much contradiction in this speech it's appalling. She has not been silent. She has been has interviewed with Sean Hannity, Neil Cavuto, Megyn Kelly–all of which were on the widely known conservative network of Fox News. Integrity is not speaking up in an space where you your beliefs will be supported.

I don't understand the long prose about worthy Americans or the inclusion of her family's long history of military involvement. So being gay is anti-American? Being gay makes you unpatriotic? There aren't any WWII veterans with gay grandchildren? There are no gay persons in the army? This was so decidedly strategic, it's as if she was trying to build a platform. No person of integrity will take the easy way out and claim patriotism. Of course we're all patriotic. Of course we love our country. What she needs to address is the love for the people IN this country.

Re: Hubris – Actually, shes the one being fascist. She is the one contradicting herself. If we all agreed to disagree, she wouldn't even be spreading her campaign of hate. If we all had the right to our opinions she wouldn't be trying to get rid of gay rights. She is beyond fucked up. while i agree with her being able to express her opinion, i do not agree that all people should be able to express their opinion no matter what the consequences. Sometimes expressing certain opinions infringe on other people's freedoms as well and is that not a violation of the constitution?

it's funny because you can tell she tried to hard to make her speech incredible, and in the end it just really wasn't great. i mean, kudos to her for standing up for her beliefs, but they way she's done it, the shit she's said- it all just makes her seem like the biggest tool ever.

I am Christian and do not think anyone should have the right to be gay. It is wrong by God's standards. Men and Women are entirely different, from their body parts to how they act. A gay marriage can't bring life to this world or make this world better. It is a sin. I wouldn't hurt them, kill them, or stand taller than them because they sinned. I will just pray for them and help them be holy and pure. I don't think of myself better than them, I don't know their life influences. God Bless All! ;D

Heres the thing, people are allowed to say whatever they want. So anyone wants to say whatever they want that is a personal opinion of someone else we want to. I personally think this woman is a undereducated drama addict that should really think five times before saying anything political if she doesn't want to face the "media firestorm". Which, ironically, is other people exercising their right to FREE SPEECH which her so and so fought for. So if she didn't want to deal with it, she could said something non-committal and be done with it.
I don't care if your hot or not, if you say things that are strong opinions that you believe are right and others don't on national television you are going to get people to voice dissent, that's life, grow up, deal with it or don't have an opinion.

I think, these are all about RESPECT. I think that pageant judge became unprofessional when she ask a sensitive question and rants when she got an answer not in line with her views. I believe she should have take Ms. California's answer without prejudice. But having done otherwise, she (the judge) is just plain DISRESPECTFUL of other's opinion.

If there is someone who we should be throwing rotten eggs, it should be that particular pageant judge.

although i strongly disagree with her about what she has said about gay marraige being wrong, i do think that she had the right to say what she herself believes. i think its wrong that perez hilton, and many other people are attacking her. she was practicing her freedoms, as she said, and people have no right to attack her. you can disagree, and believe me, i do; but its just not right. i think she should have had her crown taken away because of the pictures, and im annoyed that trump was being such an idiot about it. i think she was very well spoken, and had a good message up until she tried to start to defend her picture scandal.

She has an interesting take on the Constitution, though. Apparently, it grants her the freedom to express her own opinions, but the rest of us are taking away her freedoms when we express our opinions about her opinions to keep gays from their freedoms.
