Edwards' Book Debut Disappoints

Even a juicy political affair and an appearance on Oprah didn't help Elizabeth Edwards sell a lot of books.

To say that her new memoir, Reflections, underperformed would be an understatement.

The book trailed behind Michael J. Fox's memoir and Mark Levin's Liberty, only opening with a scan of 18,853 units.

To put that into perspective: Fox's book scanned 36,321 units this past week, with a total of 138,128 since it's release.

The battle of the books is on!

And dang, I used to like John Edwards. Now I think he is an asshole. Its one thing to cheat on your wife but then to say you only did it once? Why not come clean when caught. Then she had to go through it all over again when the truth came out. And here she is dying of fucking cancer and that is how he treats her? I doubt very much, if she weren't dying, that she would be with him now after that. But she has to make sure her children are okay before she has to leave them. Its so tragic. gotta say - i used to really respect elizabeth edwards. that respect is rapidly dissipating. her husband had an affair. at a really inappropriate time. and he's a shit for doing it. but she chose to stay with him. end of story. that is all none of my business.

where it starts to reflect poorly on her character is when she writes a book that references the affair and she refuses to acknowledge the child that was a result of that affair. that child is a sibling to Elizabeth's children. And regardless of how it was conceived, it has a right to know both it's father and it's siblings. When there are kids involved, everyone needs to put their crap to the side and give those kids the love and support that every child deserves.

She wants to divorce him, but doesn't want him to marry the other woman so she and her kids don't have to share the money. So, instead she writes a book and hopes that makes her rich and feel better. They were both just on Oprah and he said that he thought she should do the book if she wanted to as though it made no difference to him either way. I hope that their house is big enough so they don't have to look at each other.

I don't feel sorry for her at all. She and John need therapy like the Clintons got after some of Bill's cheating - not a book tour. I don't like her making a buck off John's cheating ways, and I don't like how she blames the other woman. It's always been obvious John's a complete narcissist. She let herself get fat - why wouldn't ANYONE cheat, let alone him? I'm so glad Barack and Hillary kicked his ass in the primary so he couldn't embarrass our party any more than it's already been embarrassed. John needs to do a paternity test, be a man, and support his youngest child! I'm glad her book isn't selling. She should spend her precious time left with her kids - doesn't she have terminal cancer? Or is that another lie meant to sell books?!
