This may be taking it a tad overboard.
Elizabeth Edwards, wife to former presidential hopeful John Edwards, is out promoting her book this month to all the major media outlets. She agreed to do interviews and talk about the contents of her book, which include the politician's messy affair (and his possible lovechild). However, before she did any interview, she made one important request:
No one is allowed to say the name of the adulterous whore who slept with Edwards. Oh, they could talk about the affair in general, but her name was not to be uttered during the interview!
If it seems strange to talk about the event but not name the players, well, thats because it is. Some news sources, like the Associated Press, were refused an interview because they felt her demand would censor their wire and wouldn't agree to it.
Edwards explains her desicion, though it still makes little sense: "Somebody wants to stand in the light that shines on John, that's one thing. If they, somehow, you know, work at destroying my family and my home in order to get in that light, I'm really not interested in them being in the light too much. It's not about this woman. It's about this family."
Yeah, okay fine, we won't say her name…

i'm gonna have to disagree with you here, perez. if she's a famewhore, using the fact that she had an affair with john edwards, who's wife had cancer and is now terminally ill, then why would she want to say her name out loud for everyone to hear? Elizabeth Edwards would just be giving this woman more media attention by saying her name, so if she doesn't say her name, it alludes to the fact that yes, he had an affair, but noone will think about her identity, therefore, making her famous.
I love you Perez, and 9 times out of 10 i agree with you, but i think you aren't thinking about the big picture here. That woman should not be discussed, and really, neither should John Edwards because they are both disgusting people for what they did to Elizabeth.

Hey Perezers, I worked for the first two years on Queer as Folk in Toronto as an assistant director. Even though I have many gay friends, I learned that there is a very different understanding and view of sex between male partners. Gay men - even in married relationships(I have many married gay male friends) - are allowed to have sex with other men. Sex to gay men is like sharing a tasty soda - there is no meaning to it. Sex however to a women represents something very different. In a married male/female relationship the commitment represents a level of trust. Sometimes applying a gay man's mentality to understanding hetero relationships doesn't fly - and this is one example of that.
PS- had to quit QAF because the 2nd season was nothing more than gay porn. Too bad it couldn't stay strong in story but when the British scripts ran out - so did the quality of the show. Oh - that show has ruined all the actors careers. Gale is so screwed up that he is self mutilating.

I watched some of an interview and when her name was spoken I felt the same way for her. It was like she was getting smacked in the face everytime they uttered her name. Then since the journalist was unsure on how to say it correctly said it over and over. I could see the pain in her face…very sad.
