The minor highlights of last night's Grey's Anatomy season finale included the confession of love between Owen and Cristina, Bailey divorcing her husband, and the symbolic marriage of Derek and Meredith. The latter realized they were never going to find the time to have a real ceremony, so instead opted to write their vows on a Post-it note and sign it off, as if it were a real marriage license. And for them, it is. So Meredith is now Mrs. McDreamy.
And it only took how many seasons?
But now to the juicy stuff…
It has been speculated that two major characters will be departing the series as of this season. T.R Knight, who plays George, felt his character was underused and therefore wished to leave the show to pursue new projects. Katherine Heigl, who plays Izzie, has been rumored to want off the show in order to do more movies.
So what happens?

George announced he was enlisting in the U.S. Army as a trauma surgeon and was headed for Iraq. His friends all plan an intervention to stop him from doing so, but unfortunately, they never get the chance. Because George never makes it.
In the biggest twist in Grey's history, it's revealed that George came back to the hospital as an unrecognizably bloodied, injured John Doe who had pushed a woman out of the path of a bus and been struck by it himself.

For Izzie, the audience finds their beloved blond doc in the middle of a terrible decision: she needs to have her brain tumor removed or she too will die, but if she has the procedure, she could lose her memory. Ultimately, she decides to have the surgery and awakes suffering from short term memory loss. By episodes end, she finally regains full use of her memory and rejoices in the arms of her new husband, Alex.
And then she flat lines!

What will happen next? Is George really dead? Will Izzie follow him into the white light? And can the show survive losing even more major characters?

First!
The only shocker was 007 turning up in the ER as John Doe…WOW! They got it right with that one! Guess we know why he was sporting a buzz cut now.
Who even cares about this crap show anyway?
This show is so cheesy, I can't believe I still watch it and love it. Izzie should bite it…her character is awful and annoying. A storyline where two people can't take time to get married is dumb…but I love it.
Unfortunately, I think Izzie will be back. I don't know what the big deal about Katherine Heigl is. She is totally overrated. She's not that great of an actress. As far as T.R. Knight, what else has he really done? At least K.H. has movies. They both will always have their egos, so they should fit right in somewhere in Hollywood.
omg, my stomach dropped out with the 007 twist. i don't want either of them to die…in my opinion, when the show was at it's absolute best, both george and izzie were central characters. george is the best and very underused.

I just started watching the show about 10 episodes ago… so I'm not a die hard fan that knows everything… but, I never really saw/heard from George much, so I think the show will be fine without him and I think he did die b/c he was out of the elevator waiting for Izzie to make a decision to come with him or go back. And I think she will die too b/c K. Heigl wanted out so bad, but they just want to keep you guessing until next season so you'll watch the opener. I will just be sad to see Alex w/out her. Ellen P did a great acting job when she realized who he was b/c it freaked me out trying to figure out what had her so upset.
PRETTY SURE …. it was a great episode… i was shocked…..speachless… which does not happen to a loud mouth like me
These were my two favorite characters… since the beginning. The show is way diff than when it started. So, I thick it would survive without them since the show is no longer centered around the 5 interns, but that doesn't mean I'd like it. I was way surprized… "007"!!!!!!! Even though I knew he was leaving…
For me it hasn't survived since the 2nd season. I can't stand watching it anymore, even though I LOVE Patrick Dempsey…
i don't want either to go. i love 007 (george) and just started warming up to izzie. i really started watching the show for mr. denny duquette (so hot) and dr. bailey. this show has been amazing through and through.

i dont watch the show that much but i wanted to see how theyd kill of heigle. and i cried and cried in the end and my heart skipped many beats at the 007 thing. it was a good finale.

the show totally killed it last night. I Say DNR Izzy or George's roles.
Despite how I feel about George and Izzie possible dying (I would hate it), I have to say…that episode was pretty damn brilliant. That moment when Meredith realized John Doe was "007" — "Oh God!! GEORGE!" — gives me chills just thinking about it. That was the most intense suprise they could have came up with. That was amazing - I did not see that one coming at ALL.
But from a fan's standpoint… I really hope George and Izzie don't die. Especially George — he has been my favorite character since the beginning. I just love him. I know he has been under-utilized this season, which has sucked, but George is the spirit of the show! And I hate to say it, but I interpreted that final elevator scene as George dying — being off the elevator — and Izzie having a choice (like how Meredith did when she almost died). But if Shonda Rimes et. al. haven't decided yet, this fan says: SAVE THEM!!!!

The George story line is a COMPLETE copy of an ER story line from a few years back. Remember the character on ER who left to go home after his shift and he was hit by a train? He was brought into the ER completely unrecognizable until someone figured it out. Shame on you, Shonda!
I knew they were going to leave Izzy's life in the balance but GEORGE??? I think these two make the show, along with the new gay couple. I would hate to see Izzy go but was hoping that they would keep her alive, make her have a baby and decide not to be a doctor anymore, therefore leaving it open to do guest spots. I would hate to see Tr Knight go, he has always been one of my favorites and I wish they would give him more face time. The first hour was kinda slow and predictable but the second half, OMG haven't cried this much over a show since Buffy the vampire slayer ended!!
Oh and funny thing my boyfriend (who hates this show) sat with me the last 15 mins, when she said OO7 I knew it was George cause of his nickname, well I didn't say his name I just started crying and screaming at the t.v, No no no omg no. and the whole time my bf was looking at me like I was crazy, he had no clue what was wrong with me, then on the way to work this morning everyone on the radio was talking about the show, I actually had to turn the radio off cause I couldn't stop crying! Everyone at work left me alone though, they all thought I was going through some sort of crisis, my boss even gave me the rest of the day off!!!!
All artist “borrow” and the mystery patient is an old daytime staple. Haven’t watched my tape yet, but it sounds like Shonda is not finished with character yet, and that in fall George could wake up with a new face and new actor in the role.
Daytime has often used these kind of tactics to force contract negotiations.
So the biggest twist in Grey's history is a rip off a ER plotline from the mid 90s? I wonder if Omar Epps watched last night and got upset that they stole his death scene.
When that elevator door opened and George was in the Army regalia, it was possibly one of the most devastating scenes I have ever seen on television. Heartbreaking, but appropriate.
For some reason I'm okay with Izzy dying, except that I feel really badly for poor Alex. I was crying my eyes out watching his reaction in the last scenes with Izzy!! But I am NOT okay with George dying, especially in such a horrible, painful way. I wish they just would have had him go to Iraq and leave it at that. What a horrible way for such a sweet and lovable character to go. Not happy about it at all. Seeing him in his uniform outside the elevator was just heartbreaking.

The reason I stopped watching greys was because of them. Now I will start watching it again. This will improve the show, definetly.
I think George is dead for sure because he was outside the elevator - Izzie's still inside and has to decide which way to go. The 007 thing was SHOCKING and still brings the goosebumps! I hope that Izzie doesn't get killed off - she is an integral character to the show and I don't know if I'd watch it without her. She wants to stay - Shonda - let her!! Disappointed with the McDreamy/Meredith "post-it" wedding…I want the real thing! I LOVE GREY'S!!!
It was horrendously good. I couldn't even sleep last night.
Both characters may not be dead but I doubt TR will be coming back so they might have a face transplant of sorts in the cards for George allowing TR to leave and bringing it another actor to take over that role - which would be odd but they might just pull a 'Darren from Bewitched' on us. I thought Katherine had another year on her contract which means she would be back.

Last night's episode(s) were the first good episodes this whole season. But, holy crap, it was good. I was shocked.
yeah i saw it. we already knew that the two actors were leaving the show so it wasn't that sad or such a shocker when they died. HOW TR died WAS a shock and that really sucked. i loved his character so much. there's always an underappreciated person at work who truly does shine….i've always felt like that person so i'm sad to see him go
LOVED the 007 part!! I didn't expect that one at all. OMG, it was absolutely brilliant the way they wrote that one in. I mean I knew TRK wanted out of the show, so I figured all would just cry and say goodbye to him because he signed up for the Army. And I knew there was speculation that KH was leaving, so I was expecting her to die and focused on how they were going to do that. And frankly, I'm so sick and tired of the Derek and Meredith saga. I think they are better off with other people. Ugh, can't wait for the new season in Sept or Oct or whenever.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVED last nights episode. I am not tired of Greys Anatomy like some of you, but that's because this is only my first full season. I didn't get into in the beginning b/c I thought just another cheesy medical drama. I do love it, I have to confess! I hate season finales, I just want to know what happens. I really like George b/c he is sweet, and doesn't seem to be a douche. I love Katherine too, but seems like in "real life" she's not so great. I think Izzie would be missed more than George.
Yay! I will finally start watching the shoe if those two buffoons are gone. Get rid of them…please…please

I hope Izzy dies. She is the most annoying character… surgeries on a deer, a model, a trailer trash teen mom, etc. I want her OUT. Plus she seems full of herself and everytime I see her I just picture her sucking ciggs. George… O man!! That was a shocker!! He def was under used… I wish him n Lil Grey had a thing.. they would be so cute!! But He looked sooooooooooo HOT in the uniform. But Izzy… hope she dies.
VERY surprising twist @ 007, i will admit. I been watchin the show since day 1, and had no idea what 007 was lol. but yeah guys theyre both dead, they left the show, done, finished, so long!!! so clearly the elevator scene with them lookin at each other means theyre DEAD!. but Dita made a good point about his face being messed up so bad that they will replace him with a new George.
i thought the episode could have been a bit better. its like everything happened at the last 6 minutes of a 2 hour finale.

the finale was beyond overrated am i the only one who noticed that they did the same exact thing tht they did to George's character on ER but he got hit by a train instead and this seasons of greys was so similar to house with the having sex with and hallucination and seeing dead people that tell u that your sick these doctor shows are all the same now
