Hilarie Burton Needs Cash

Seriously, she needs a paycheck, since she won't be receiving anymore from One Tree Hill.
Why? Because she is stupid!
VJ Hilarie Burton started with the series six years ago and now is departing, but the reason behind the decision has been a mystery. Rumors have flown around that it was an issue of money and there was even an cryptic video message from the actress, explaining to fans that her character has run her course.
But now, Burton sets the record straight about leaving the Hill.
First, she explains that she was really hurt by the rumors of money being the deciding factor of her leaving the show. "I think my fan base in particular knows that money isn't necessarily a big motivator for me, that's why I work in the world of independent film."
Okay, but if you are trying to convince us you are concerned about artistic integrity, please refer back to the LAST six seasons of the show and explain why you didn't leave sooner.
Then, Hil goes on to say that her departure was an "emotional" but "professional decision," one that she stands behind and insists was mutual between herself and the company and that she would never "bad mouth" the show for any reason.
But what will she do now?
Beg for money!
"On the blog that I have for my production company, we're producing a web series that we're going to start shooting on Memorial Day. We've also got a television show that we're turning into a graphic novel, and we've got a film we're raising money for. I'm busy."
Busy being stupid! If you stayed with the show, the paycheck would have paid for your film.
Working= Money!

P.S. Burton says she's open to making guest appearances on One Tree Hill next season. Yeah, as soon as her credit card gets maxed out!

Hilarie was FORCED to leave. No matter how much she said it was a mutual decision, her character had to go when CMM decided to leave for money. This article should be written about CMM being greedy, not Hil. How do you not understand that Perez? She's just too classy to say what really happened and blame other people, so she's now getting all of the heat. Maybe you should do a little research instead of posting wrong information.

Perez - although I usually find your rants about stupidity funny, I don't think that you know enough about this to rant. I have met and talked with Hilarie Burton in depth many times. She loves OTH and the OTH producers/cast/crew. She is one of the most down to earth women in the industry. Dana Marie is right in the fact that she's worked on this production company for years and I believe she does want to focus on that. I would think that unless your an Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt or Mel Gibson, that you would need outside capital from investors to keep a production company going rather than a paycheck from a TV show. Just saying. Still love you though!

Yeah Perez you obviously know NOTHING about this situation. As someone already said (but I feel the need to explain as well) Hilarie is leaving because Chad Michael Murray is leaving. Mark Schwan (the creator) has wanted Peyton and Lucas together and so if one leaves then they both have to leave in order to keep them together. Because Chad is greedy and thinks he can do well in movies (HA!) he decided to leave making it so that Hilarie also has to leave. She is obviously a very appreciative and kind person because in her interview she said NOTHING bad about anyone and supports the show completely. I have the upmost respect for her. So if you want to write a story then get your facts straight and write one about Chad Michael Murray.

I agree with many of the people who commented. Hilarie is not begging for money. In fact her production company is doing very well. She's also been very successful in the movie industry. But i think Chad needed to stay with the show longer. Everyone knows he want's to be a big movie star, but he hasn't been very successful with that. One Tree Hill is the best thing that happened to him, and also what he is known for. She had to leave since Chad decided he didn't want to stay anymore. Hilarie was always committed to the show, she loves it as much as we did. But Leyton couldn't survive without both of them. So she had to leave also. It's sad that he became greedy and ruined it for the fars who rallied to save the show multiple times. I'm still really pissed about this and even after the season finale i WILL NEVER watch the show any longer because they won't be on it. So Perez if you should be writing an article about any One Tree Hill actor/actress its not Hilarie, its Chad.

The simple truth is that the CW can not afford to keep her and Chad on the payroll..I actually believe she pushed out of her job..but in a way it makes sense for her character/storyline, and she's just trying to keep things calm by saying it was a 'mutual' decision.
I don't think you read the interview properly at all. Shame.
Please take this with a pound of salt but there have been rumours about Hilarie and her husband (who works on the OTH) splitting up. That may or may not be a reason for her to bail on the show…especially when her contract was up and she has been transitioning to film with small roles. I love OTH and I love Hilarie and the Peyton character. The romance between Peyton and Lucas is a primary reason why I have watched this show but I understand if they need to move on for WHATEVER reason. I would be concerned with there being a season seven if they hadn't brought on the Julian character for Brooke because they have great chemistry and will provide a second anchor couple to the show (other than Hayley and Nathan).

As everyone else has pointed out, you have never even watched the show or even researched even a lil bit or you would realize she's being forced out. CMM wants to do movie roles ( Ha! good luck with that, I think he's one of the crappist actors i've seen in a long time, JMO) and they're a package, can't have 1 without the other.
It's going to be interesting to see how well the show does without them, I hope it does well
