Former '80s sensation Deborah Gibson has been publicly - and desperately - asking for work. But, now, the trailer for her new sci-fi flick, Mega-Shark vs. Giant Octopus, has become an internet sensation after we posted it!
The movie, which features Gibson and Lorenzo Lamas, hits the Cannes Film Festival this weekend and has already reached millions of hits online.
In fact, some people are even making pre-orders before the movie makes its direct-to-DVD release on May 19th
But even Gibson admits the movie sucks!
She says, "This movie isn't going to put me on the acting map. But it was so ridiculously fun. There's some absurd stuff going on, but I felt like my character had some good scenes. Besides, I got to be the badass girl who saved the planet. The director would be like, 'okay, the shark just attacked the submarine from the left, so everyone jump to the right.' So I'd do it and he'd tell me I looked like I was having a seizure."
Somehow, we'd rather watch a movie with Kiki Drunkst in it.
But Debbie claims that she's not embarrassed by the film, stating, "If you realize that it's a fun science fiction movie, you'll get it. It's not a film where you ask a bunch of questions; you just enjoy it for what it is."
Oh, and there might even be a sequel. Or so she's hoping for. She jokes that "We leave the door open for a sequel. How about a giant lobster? That would be terrifying. They're really scary."

Oh Perez, always so keen to take the credit. The trailer had been posted on other sites long before yours. In fact, I've noticed over the last few weeks how many of your posts are taken from the Popbitch messageboard. A clip or a photo appears there, and bingo, it's up on your page not long afterwards. So let's give credit where credit is due, eh? The Mega-Shark vs. Giant Octopus clip was on Popbitch a good four or five hours before you picked up on it.
you're consistently running 2-3 days BEHIND in the "news" you report, so be careful for taking credit for things you had nothing to do with!

Don't get me wrong I'm all for IT, but it's getting irritating how many things he's dedicating towards that. Although I understand having a passion and he's lucky he can use his own celebrity to further it, but he's just getting a little single minded lately. It'll pass like gas I'm sure!

I worked with Deborah in '92……. She is one of the most talented and hard working people I have ever met, incredible pianist, great voice, writer, producer, actress et al and the sweetest chick in the biz. I also think the megaladon in this film would hardly be the biggest shark she's had to deal with! Go Deb Go!!!!

I've met quite a few celebs, and NONE was a down to earth, kind, and generous as Deborah Gibson. I'm not sure why you have a bone to pick with her….are you JEALOUS of her or something, or just generally an unhappy person? Snatching up stories from other sites to try to bash her with and then claiming they are original reeks of desperation, regardless of your reason.
