The Pitt Family Is Very Generous - AND Environmentally Sound!
Brad Pitt and his brother, Doug Pitt, have made a extremely generous donation to Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, in their father's name!
Generosity speaks volumes!
Brad and Doug donated $600,000 to the university's O'Reilly Family Event Center in order for the center to become Gold LEED (Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design)-certified, making it the first Gold LEED certified arena in the nation.
Some of the more well known LEED-certified building in the States include the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco and the National Audubon Society offices in New York City.
The center, primarily used by the school for sporting events, performances and graduations, will now feature environmentally-sound "low-flow water fixtures, a dedicated recycling area and a solar-reflective roof and pavement materials," with the court of the arena named the William A. Pitt Court after Grandpa Pitt himself.

while its great what they did, brad pitt should be making some changes at home if he really cares about the environment. i mean its not exactly environmentally friendly when you have several homes that are 4000+ square feet.

Well, since they are millions of dollars behind in donations just from the money they got for the photos of the twins—he needs to get busy!
His press guy says the money runs a year behind, but the money they got (6 million) for those photos of their newborns, has still not fully been donated.
Cambodia hasn't gotten their money from Ms. Jolie, either.
I wouldn't care a whit what people give, but they make a huge production out of their giving—so they should do what they say they will do.
This is a good step in that direction.

there's nothing green about 3 biological kids who travel in jets, SUVs…who use disposable diapers and eat meat or foods shipped/packaged in wasteful ways. This family generates a LOT of waste and er, what is it they do for a living? make movies? oh. well, that does make the world better!
in any event, at least they are trying. but the twins were too much.
I am a Springfield, MO resident and I have worked with Doug on a few health care-related charities. These people do good because they ARE and they CAN. Just because they can donate more than we can doesn't mean we shouldn't too–a little goes a long way! I am very proud of our Pitts!
