I know that Adam Lambert has the better voice and the greater stage presence but there is something about Kris Allen that I absolutely adore. With all of the publicity and cover stories that Adam has been receiving I wouldn’t be totally shocked if this all backfired and Kris won.

First of all, just because someone doesn't vote for Adam doesn't make them a "homophobe". I am all for gay rights and gay marriage, but I just can't stand to listen to Adam. He does not have a marketable voice. Could you imagine him singing songs like David Cook on the radio? Well, those are the songs that the AI people will have him sing if he wins. Kris has a voice that is better suited for those songs and I would actually listen to his CDs. I was only able to get through the phone lines and vote for Kris once. From reading all of the comments on this board, the general vote is for Kris. Sorry Perez, but you need to go back to just posting celebrity gossip and stop trying to push your own agenda.

I don't think that Adam is a very good singer. He's different and he has a certain special something to him but in no way do I think that he should be this years American Idol. On the other hand, I don't think that Kris should be either. Neither of them are on the same level as previous Idol winners. I hope that people don't vote for Adam because he's gay, I hope they vote on talent. I'm a little confused as to why so many are upset that people would vote for Adam "just because he's gay." The social implications of a gay person winning on one of the post popular TV shows in the United States would be incredible.It would show that being gay is becoming less of an issue. And when gay people are so underrepresented in almost every facet of our society, wouldn't it make sense that some (especially those who are not openly gay) would vote for the person with whom they can identify? I understand that American Idol is a singing competition, and that is the standard that should be most important when voting, but this doesn't always happen. Plenty of amazing singers have been voted off because of weight, looks, personality, etc. People just aren't going to always vote for the person with the best voice. Period.

Both Adam and Kris have a ton of talent and singing ability, but my vote is for Adam. I even go to college in Conway where Kris is from, but as a voice major, I'm going to vote for the person with the better pipes.

Okay, I guess I am the last one to realize that American Idol finalist Adam Lambert is apparently gay. Although it does not matter to me, as I have not even let the thought cross my mind, it did affect others' opinions of him, as well as some peoples' decisions when it came to the final vote. Are we seriously still living in the 1950's? I am so glad that I don't let things like race and sexual orientation affect my judgement. I am happy to say I can make my decisions based on merit rather than pre-judgements. That's all.
