Brooke Plays Bodyguard For Mom

brooke.jpg

Brooke Shields is keeping close to her mama.

After the reprehensible and terrible incident with the National Enquirer, where they practically kidnapped her mother, Brooke is understandably apprehensive about leaving her mom's side.

Shields' mother is diagnosed with dementia and living in an assisted-care facility in New Jersey.

We can't wait to see what Brooke is gonna do to those bastards!

Journalism schools across the country should insist on required ethics courses for graduation. What they did is appalling on just so many levels that their employers should have to answer for it.

What kind of selfish movie star would abandon her mother to a nursing home? She has enough money to keep her mother with her at home under 24 hour care.

Re: topper – You have no idea how hard it is to run around after people with dementia. They leave burners on, walk out naked into the neighbourhood at three in the morning, squat and go in the middle of the living room, etc, etc. It's not safe for kids to live in or witness when they deteriorate past a certain point, so for everyone's sanity and moreso, safety, a locked care facility is ultimately often needed to keep the loved one from injuring themselves or others. They forget how to function at a basic level. Many of these care homes can be great, and their caregivers are specifically trained to help dementia patients much more than a normal person would know how to. If they totally forget who you are, then they also wouldn't want you to ruin your family life to keep them there if they were insanely disruptive. Been there, done that, for 18 years at all stage of that disease. Just wanted you to know what can happen.

Re: topper – Is that what you are doing? Have you been in this situation? Just asking.

That's the mom who porned Brooke in "Pretty Baby" when she's ten? She kinda looks like Jane Fomda.

Re: topper – if you think it's a selfish act you've never been close to that situation. if anything it's selfless. emotionally it is the hardest thing to put your parent in a place like that. those places cost thousands upon thoudands of dollars a WEEK! someone with that disease is extremely hard and takes a professional. their mind, motor skills, ability to speak, memory, everything are gone.

Oh Please, how phony, Brook probably hadn't visited her mother in years, now she is pretending that they spend time together.

Re: Spindoc – Not true. Know her. Always been there for her mother even when they weren't getting along all that well. Don't talk shit unless you know.

Yes, I have been there up close and personal with Alzheimer's disease. Three members on my mother's side of the family have died of it. The family members did not have the money that Brooke Shields has to work with but they kept them at home. Brooke Shields has the means to keep her mother at home and she should. With her wealth, she has the ability to hire the best people and to provide the best care for her mother.

This is the kind of stuff that people should be absolutely outraged over. I really hope she sues the pants off of the national enquirer and the reporters that did this. I also hope there could be criminal charges. This just sounds like a horrible and crazy situation.

Re: topper – That's nice that you were able to. I did the same for 13 years, but had to place the patient for the last five years. Some patients are mellow, but some can become hostile, angry, mean, uncooperative and aggressive. It's not really them anymore, and it really can depend upon the severity and the way they present. You also know that some family members could never handle caring for someone else; and admit they are just not capable of it, and never could, if you know what I mean.
