CA pretty much does the same thing only they don't call it MARRIAGE!!! Get over it!
I just Love how these supposedly liberal states like CA. and WA. got totally put in their place by Iowa. They can call Iowa "flyover country" all they want, but Iowa is a more open place now then the West Coast.

I think "marriage" will be antiquated and for the religious right some day. I think it's a start to move away from it and redefine relationships so that divorce is mitigated and attorneys aren't so rich. Marriage for the masses doesn't work and isn't respected. I have no idea why gays want it so bad. They can have equal rights without forcing themselves into things they'll hate. Get smart. I don't think we should throw everything under the "marriage" umbrella. What's the dumb deal with that.
Leave it the religious institution it started. Get inovative and get a new, better, fresh start with rights and partnerships. Don't overhaul something that doesn't work or cram more unwilling partners into it to make themselves feel better. Recognition does not have to come at that high of price for gosh sakes.
It's ridiculous trying to make marriage available to "more" people after it's track record. Seriously, it needs to be a man and a woman and there needs to be more restricted instead of less. Common sense anyone?

Re: Spindoc – would you please search the internet and learn that a domestic partnership is availlable in CA? it has been before. the only thing prop 8 has taken was the term "marriage".

Hmm sorry wrong they do not offer a lot of the legal benefits that come with the "marriage" title.. People should really look things up.. There is a reason why gays fight so adamantly about this issue.. Educate yourselves please.. Also ever heard of the term "separate but equal" which has already been proven to be unconstitutional…

This is what should happen! Why do gay people insist on being called husband and husband or wife and wife. It sounds ridiculous! Gay people don't want to get married for the rights, they want a secular society devoid of religion. Obama and political correctness have taken the place of reason, logic, and spirituality.
Re: Spindoc – The people of Iowa did not pass gay rights legislation. Politicians who take themselves to be more important than they are voted on it.
Re: epic – I have always wondered what the gay are fightinf for in California since they receive the same rights as married folks, but they just can not call each other husband and husband or wife and wife. They can if they want.
