Green Day Says FU Wal-Mart

If you haven't gotten Green Day's new album, 21st Century Breakdown, go get it - but don't expect to get it at the everyday low prices of Wal-Mart.

You won't find it!

The band refuses to let the superstore distribute the album because they were asked to provide a censored version.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong reveals in an interview: "They want artists to censor their records in order to be carried in there. We just said no. We've never done it before. You feel like you're in 1953 or something."

The company has a long-standing policy not to stock any CD with a parental advisory sticker, but the guys aren't too concerned with it. They are just pleased with the music and will stand behind it, no matter who sells it.

Guitarist Mike Dirnt said: "As the biggest record store in the America, they should probably have an obligation to sell people the correct art."

Damn straight!

It seems pretty foolish to lose business over something that could and should be just moderated. How hard is it to ask for ID before selling a kid something considered 'adult content'?

It's really not, lazy bastards.

Your loss!

Re: BamU – bitch is it owned by americans?? do their profits go to our gdp??
      THE ITS AN AMERICAN COMPANY.
and you make yourself sound like a retard when you say it hurts us, when actually it provides many people with low priced items that many people desperately need, in this economic crisis. im sorry that you are a brainwashed little drone who watches too many michael moore movies and whose view of reality is obviously fucking warped beyond belief.
once you make sense, then you can have the right to talk to me . . .
until then, SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Re: carolineyy – What the fuck are you talking about? Last time I checked, the CD was available at Best Buy for 10 bucks. Quit your fucking whining, you just sound like a dumbass.

Besides, when I went to Wal-Mart with a friend of mine I saw a CD there that Wal-Mart charged at a higher price than Best Buy. So, again, shut the fuck up.

seriously i give kudos to green day for doing it. wal mart sells guns and rated are movies and what not in there store also. and there calling themselves a family store. lol. hahaha. and by the way the clothing that they sell at wal mart is made from countrys that are really poor. and the people who make those clothes for wal mart dont even get paid much at all just because of the low prices that wal mart has on there clothing. wal mart could up the prices on there clothes so then the poeple who make them can get paid more. im just sayin. it was talked about on the news with datline or 20/20 somethin of that nature. lol. and they call themselves a family store that honors there customers. how dare they even go there. if you really knew half the shit about wal mart. you wouldnt be standing by wal mart. so kudos to green day. there my favorite band in the world. i respect them for what they do. =)
