British actress and activist Joanna Lumley (Patsy, dahling) was overwhelmed with joy when it was confirmed yesterday that all Gurkha veterans - who fought for Britain back in the day - now have the right to live in the U.K.
The Sun reveals that the extraordinary and revolutionary event was partly the result of Lumley's vigorous campaign for the Gurkha veterans.
With a smile on her face and tears in her eyes, Lumley said of the expected Government U-turn over settlement rights: "We feel outstandingly optimistic."
Uh-huh. Or the Prime Minister is a push over for the hawtness that is you, Joanna.

She definately knew what she was doing. I laughed when she happened to be exiting a TV studio at the same time as the immigration minister and she made him agree to policy change on camera. Good on her! I loved Ab Fab and Joanna Lumley using her fame to bring about a government melt down. She should run for PM one day.

Anyway, Joanna Lumley has been an extremely eloquent and informed campaigner - so glad the Gurkhas and their families get the opportunities they more than deserve

My father fought alongside the Gurkha's during the Korean war. He always said they were the fiercest and most loyal comrades a man could ask for on the battlefield. His respect for these men was immense. He's gone now but if he were alive today he'd be one happy old soldier. Thanks Joanna for helping make the day of old soldiers everywhere.
