Bitchy! The Gayken Slams Glambert!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayCelebrity FeudsClay AikenAmerican IdolAdam LambertLGBT

Clay Aiken's a bitch! A supersonic bitchy bitch!

He turned a simple question into a novellette on his blog when asked how he felt American Idol went down this year. And he makes sure to hate on this season's runner-up, the publicly closeted Adam Lambert, and every Idol for the last few years!

The Gayken's burning those bridges fast!

Clay wrote on Thursday:

Now that it's all over, and for the record…. I couldn't be happier about the way AI ended this year. I only turn the show on once a season, and only to see what the set looks like each year. This year, I happened to turn it during the minute that Adam Lambert was singing "Ring of Fire" and, at that moment, thought my ears would bleed. Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening! I wasn't really a fan and found myself surprised whenever folks told me that they liked him. Granted, I never saw another performance (and many folks who I trust said that he was great) but I can't imagine I would have enjoyed it. Just not my cup of tea at all. To each his own. I never saw Kris sing on the show, but whether he was good or not is really relative. It's usually a matter of taste, right? But Idol is not always a matter of musical taste only. It's about the person you like. From what little I saw, Kris seemed likable. (That's not to say that Adam isn't just as likable as anyone.. maybe more so… I don't know) When Ruben and I were standing next to each other every night (many years ago) you had two equally talented, equally unlikely, equally unpolished contestants…. so it really was a matter of taste as to who was voted for. While some may argue that one of us was hyped more than the other, I don't feel that was the case. However, this year, there was an obvious bias. Not even having watched the show, I can tell you that I was WELL aware of the bias from the judges as to who should win. In my opinion, that is awfully unattractive. I don't think I am alone.

In my opinion, it all often comes down to that last night of voting. Until the finale, folks are voting for the contestant that they want to see continue. But, I believe that on that last night, the dynamic changes. No longer forced to choose one person that they want to see win, the audience can effectively vote AGAINST the person that they don't want to see win. In the case of season two this might have happened. There may have been some folks who voted for myself or Ruben because they didn't like the other of us. I was the nerdy little girly boy who some didn't want to see win, so they may have voted for Ruben. I don't know. .. But again, I feel that Ruben and I were fairly matched. We both had our detractors and negatives, but I feel we were both very worthy of being on that stage in that moment, and either of us would have been worthy of winning. The show was different then, and folks made it in seasons 1-3 because they were "real" people who happened to sing/entertain well. But, somewhere along the way, AI stopped being about real people

A: In a battle between David and Goliath, my money is on David!

I think many voters got sick of being "told who to vote for". I think many were turned off by the blatant favoritism shown towards one contestant. Therefore, on that last night, they used their votes against a contestant that they were tired of hearing about and for the contestant who had been written off. And, at the same time, I think they voted AGAINST an American Idol that has, for four years now, been more about the slick productions and polished contestants than it has been about finding the raw talent that it did in its first three seasons.

Those votes for Kris were also votes to return the show to its roots of finding "real" contestants with undiscovered talent and giving them the chance to grow and shine. They were votes that said "we're tired of seeing contestants who already seem to know it all".

Will American Idol choose to listen to the resounding and clarion call that those voters gave them?…. "Enough with the pretention. More Rubens, more Clays, more Fantasias and Tamyras and Kellys please." My faith has always been in the voters. I think they have gotten it right every year (mine included). It's now up to American Idol to decide if it will finally REALLY listen to the folks that keep it on the air.

Do U agree with the Gayken?

Has Idol forgotten it's roots or is Gayken just jealous that none of the rest of the Idols return his phone calls?

It may be harsh, but he hit the nail on the head. This season was a farce. Adam, while talented, didn't sing. He screamed and screeched. He'd start a song out and he would sound like heaven, then he'd fuck it up with the screaming. Kris is more marketable. I also think that people are fed up with the judges pimping 'the winner'. They did it with Adam and they did it with Gilles on DWTS. In both cases, America proved that we don't appreciate that.

  2. 102

Re: Brtt – I agree with you. When I heard Adam Lambert sing my beloved U-2's song "One" , I felt like I'm going to throw up. It was THAT AWFUL.

  3. 103

You have got to be kidding me! First of all Clay's probably lying about not watching the show…bitch please! We know your at home jacking off while watching Adam stick out his tongue on those high notes. And if you didn't really watch, then you look like a total TOOL spouting your opinon on something you know nothing about! You praise Kris as a "real" contestant - while also stating you never heard him preform?? WTF Your either a complete catty douch or a liar - probably both. Darn - I used to like you too.

  4. 104

    Jealous much?

  5. Sezzy says – reply to this

  6. 106

Clay nailed it - so true so true. definitely voted for who i DIDN"t want to win. not that i wanted Kris to win.

  7. 107

for once clay aiken has something good to say

  8. 108

    Yay! Cat fight!….. Meow….. hissss….hisss…..

  9. 109

When I saw the headline, I was PO'd because I thought Adam was most talented. But Clay's blog was thoughtful and intelligent and even though he seems personna non grata on the AI set, he's entitled to feel however he wants. It wasn't a total rant against Adam.

  10. 110

Hmmm quite franky, I agree with him

Who sings a Cash classic the way Lambert does?
    Its AWFUL!
I just dont like how he sings, like he was hyperventilating or having an orgasm.

His looks got him this far.
Oh, and people that like the whole GAGA fever.

    "Glambert" sucks.

  11. 111

You sit there and bold all of the negative things about your precious adam, but if you continue to read, he says that he hasn't seen kris sing, or adam sing other than that one song, and that they are both certainly likable, and even people close to him really like adam, he's just not the style clay likes. what's so wrong with that? as long as the person is gay, you will fight and defend them til the end, even when it's unnecessary. if you think the results weren't fair, we'll see when the records come out. but it shouldn't just be about adam being gay, and you shouldn't just highlight the parts that support your twisted version of the story.

  12. 112

Oh yeah Clay and all those people you mentioned are real superstars now arent they! With the exception of Kelly of coarse. Maybe America got tired of seeing their Idols get droped from their record labels and star in Broadway shows, or in your case Clay make music that my Grandma wouldnt even listen to because it sounds to old. Dont you dare make comments about a season that you didnt even watch!

  13. 113

    Wow…. Bitter, Party of One!
Who the hell cares what he thinks anyway. He just wrote that shit so people such as yourself and other blogs would report on it so he can try to get his 15mins back.

  14. 114

People say that the judges showed favortism, have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe they gave him kudos because they actually liked what he did! Adam always put on a show, just because he always got the credit he deserved does not mean it was favoritism

  15. 115

    clay is right

  16. 116

Clay is so jealous. He can never compare to how awesome Adam is.

  17. 117

Doesn't he have some song about being invisible. Take your own advice. Go for a spa day boo. Maybe it will make you feel better about trashing total strangers.

  18. 118

I totally agree with Aiken. I hate it when it's ovious who the judges want to win. and i myself enjoy it when the clear favourite doesn't win. It doesnt really matter why Adam may not have won. Fact is that he didnt't. I think it's also possible that the fans or people voting for Kris thought he needed much more support against the clear favourite and therefor suceeded. anyways, get over it.

  19. 119

Actually, I do agree with him

  20. 120

  21. 121

blah blah blah whine whine whine — Clay who?

  22. 122

    I agree with him!!!

  23. 123

I stopped watching after 3 myself

  24. 124

Re: mikatie – you said "I totally agree with Aiken. I hate it when it's ovious who the judges want to win. "

    Um….isnt a judge's JOB to make judgements?

  25. 125

Okay seriously….if you go through the blog there is a shitload of people spelling the word favorite like "favourite". You are CLEARLY giving away the fact that you are from England therefore you have no say in what happens in AMERICAN idol. You don't seem me posting on the stories about Britian's Got Talent. How annoying!

I agree with whoever said the people that like Kris are the same people who like the Jonas Brothers. I cannot stand that people are constantly judging Adam on ONE SONG. Gosh. Kris should've been booted with his TERRIBLE performance of "Come Together". But of course, nobody brings that up. Kris is so forgettable. Notice how he won and the headlines are all STILL about Adam? Did you also notice how Simon didn't even stand up and clap when they said Kris had won? I guess you are going to say HE doesn't have an eye for talent either. It's pathetic when 15 year olds with hormones think they know more than people in the music industry.

  26. 126

no one cares about what the gayken has to say :P
whst KISS said was more important
"hes a powerful & attractive man" & adam should go on tour with this powerful band :) or gaga could write him a song & any label would be lucky to have him :)

  27. 127

I'd like to think I agree with him, only I think he's got it wrong in saying he thinks they get it right year after year? I think the show is getting it wrong more and more. I mean: Kris Allen is like a Jason Castro less the dreadlocks (mediocre at best). When so so singers (bar type) started inching closer and closer to the finals, I knew it was the beginning of the end (BoBice/Bucky Covington/Sanjaya.) And when it finally happened and Karaoke took the prize (Taylor Hicks), I began to see the beginning of the end. So the ratings were down Wednesday night from the previous final; still a bigger Neilson audiance than any other network, and so next-year will be more of the same. In Europe they don't care how young or old a contestant is and so America turns to YouTube to see what a "REAL" talent show looks & sounds like (Brittains Got Talent/The X Factor), but in America "Nearly 100 Millions Votes Cast" sounds good to the advertisers, and AI coins off of nearly every vote cast, and so nothing will change, and next-years ratings will be will be like every season that preceeds it (I see a pattern here).

  28. 128

For the first time EVER, I AGREE with the Gaykin…I loved listening to Kris, and while I liked Adam, he sqwarked like a bird…and AI has lost it's "rawness"…too much Ryan and not enough raw talent being highlighted…this is okay, but not as interesting or entertaining.

  29. 129

  30. 130

All the American Idol contestants are slaves to conformity and endless contracts, and yes that includes Adam, for all you who say that at least he's not tied to an AI contract–yes he is. I don't think Clay is jealous of Adam, but more so jaded about the whole show, and I think he's just saying what he's legally able to say without getting himself in trouble, for I believe former contestants aren't allowed to say negative things about the show after they leave. AI is just that–a huge money-making franchise, and I'm sure there are more former contestants who feel the same way Clay does. Who knows–maybe six years from now, we'll be hearing the same or similar sentiments from Adam.

  31. 131

Have to agree with Clay. First, he gave his opinion which everyone is entitled to. Adam was not "my cup of tea" but he was hugely talented. People just liked Kris better. And believe me, it had nothing to do with Adam being gay.
Maybe it had a lot to do with him being so professional. I liked idol when they found someone who sang in bars, at school or just around the house. Not people who have been professional back up singers or been on a big stage with other professionals. I think thats what "Idol" fans are looking for and I think that is what Clay is trying to say. I hope they all do well.

  32. 132

I love Glambert AND Kris but I must say I agree with Clay. I'm sick of the judges bias toward and promotion of some contestants. They probably hurt Adam's chances by shoving him down our throats.

  33. 133

The truth hurts, Perez! It's not about gay or straight….get over Lambert and move on!

  34. 134

I argee with Clay, about the show not really being about raw talent anymore, i also argee about what he said about Adam's singing, it was horrible everytime he preformed i turned the channel, to me he sucked and shouldn't of been on the show as long as he was, now Kris he was ok, but honestly i don't think he should of won, hopefully next season will be better, but i highly doubt it, cause to me the show has just become all about the judges and ryan.

  35. 135

    I actually agree with him.

  36. 136

Perez, u are really starting to annoy the "S" out of me!!!! I don't even like Clay and I agree that song was horrible…But PLEASE for the love of whoever, stop talking about AI, Speidi, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga (who I love, but there's nothing gossip worthy that u post about her).

  37. 137

Those who says adam isn't a great singer is crazy. Go to youtube and search adam lambert i just love you video. His voice is amazing. I guess some of you are deaf, when it comes to hearing great singers.

  38. 138

clay is wackkk! those of you that thinks adam can't sing, apparently have heard his pre-idol singing. go to youtube and search adam lambert i just love you video. great voice!

  39. tasha says – reply to this

I think considering clay admits he only heard adam once and never heard kris he has no business giving an opinion. His career is in the toilet so he's trying to drum up people talking about him again which is working.

  40. 140

Hey you know what for all the crap ur saying because of ur love for Mister Adam Lambert, everything Clay Aiken says in his blog is absolutely true. I am sorry but its true. Everyone and their mother was going for Adam Lambert without even given a second glance to kris. It was completely biased. All you celebrities from YOU, to Simon Cowell, to just about every guest on American Idol were jumping on the Lambert wagon because hes gay and disregarding Kris because he wasn't. You didnt care about the singing, you cared about your political agenda which is fine but do not come and say that you were not backing Adam because he was gay because you are a liar. So next time, when you are choosing a contestant to win in this show, do yourself a favor and pick someone because of who is the better singer not because of their sexual orientation. Because last time I checked this was a singing contest not a damn political battleground.

  41. 141

I love Adam Lambert. I wish he was a straight vegan and totally into me. His voice is a charm and a dream. Love

  42. 142

this is what happens when someone who doesn't know what they are talking about wants to have an opinion. the ring of fire song was probably one that most people didn't like (I did though) - and this season it had nothing to do with people not wanting to be told who to vote for. Adam had a lot of hype because he was the most dynamic performer they ever had, he was outrageous and took more risks than usual. Kris won because he was good and he had a babyface, those 13 y/o soldiers voted like OCD patients - AND, many of Danny's voters probably went to Kris. So there you go, a hypothesis/opinion much more in line with the sentiment of viewers during this season. I would think that Clay would have some admiration for the fact that Adam competed while being openly gay - maybe there is something else behind this ridiculous blog…his opinion is totally off base…he didn't even watch the show…what does he know?

  43. 143

it is a singing competition !!!!!!
gay clay is just jealous that adam has more talent in his little finger than clay will ever have.
adam is more relaxed with himself and knows how to handle the press etc, gay was a closeted moron . we all knew clay was gay but who cares, its all about the talent of the vocals !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
clays 15 minutes is up !!!!

  44. InFL says – reply to this

Awwwww, Clay is jealous ’cause there's a new queen in town! ….who happens to be a LOT better than him…ha, ha, ha!

  45. 145

fuck gayken. i cant stand him. he is such a moron. clay aiken was a horrible singer, and he hasnt done anything with his life. if you havent heard the person sing, then dont comment. say you dont know him very much. adam was amazing, and while i do admit ring of fire wasnt his best, nobody ears were close to bleeding, and he still had a good voice throughout. i actually liked the song.

  46. 146

I think it's insulting that Clay Aiken would proclaim himself to be as "equally talented" as Ruben Studdard. The only reason he made it to #2 was because the other people that season sucked more than he did.

P.S. Nice webcam shots C.A. That's keeping it "real."

  47. 147

    Re: maluwelton
"I would think that Clay would have some admiration for the fact that Adam competed while being openly gay."
I would say Lambert is obviously gay rather than openly gay, since he has never openly admitted he that he is gay.

  48. 148

who gives a shit what gay aiken ass thinks

  49. 149

This made me like Clay!!! that was very well said.

  50. 150

first of all it sounds like this idiot is trying to convince me that you have to be flaming gay or nerdy or black to deserve to be in the final.as he says both him and rubin had there "detractors and negatives".WTF?????and is he saying being gay black or a nerd is negative????and secondly does he not look in the mirror or the 100 copies of his season on american idol and see what he looked like from the start to the compared to the end??his look, his sound everything with his unpolished comment bullshit……the kids a joke tell him to fuck off.and if you are putting american idol up to what it really is and should, that is a singing competition and though i like kris he should not have won over adam.adam can sink his rocks off and in circles around kris.i like kris but loved adam and hate clay.the fact that somebody let his sperm near them makes me vomit a little it must have been a real last resort for the poor woman.

  51. 151

    I don't like him, but he's right.

  52. 152

Re: texchick – I don't think Adam or The Jonas Brothers can sing. The only person I've found and talent in since like, Nirvana, is Jason Mraz. All modern music sucks. Feel free to slam me down. This is the internet, you have oh so much power here.

  53. 153

Amen to that! Clay is TOTALLY right on this one. AI has moved away from what it was originally supposed to be - a show for undiscovered, raw talent. Now you have people applying who've actually had record deals (Joanna Pacitti) or been on similar shows (Alison Iraheta), or been in theatre all their life (Adam Lambert). It was never supposed to be a competition between semi-pros, and maybe that's why the public is starting to tune out.

As for his comments about the judges trying to sway the votes, HE'S 100% RIGHT. The judges and the media (including YOU Perez) tried to shove Adam Lambert down our throats for weeks, thinking we could all be brainwashed into voting for him. Too bad you couldn't be even remotely objective, and in the end all it did was help Kris Allen win.

Clay Aiken has way more right than you or any of us to talk about American Idol. He's been on the show and he's seen its inner workings. Quit acting like you know everything.

  54. 154

  55. 155

Actually I think Clay has some good points. I, too think the judges are soo biased. And I did think Adam was a little over the top with all of his screaming. I think this probably did him in much more than his sexuality. I don't think people care all that much about that anymore.

  56. 156

CLAY AIKEN NEEDS TO FALL BACK! He is the fakest B*tch that ever graced the idol stage…I mean how long was he in the closet????!?..and he is trying to say that seasons 1-3 had the only "real" contestants? Honestly the most real contestant was last years winner, DAVID COOK. That guy is amazing and beautiful inside and out. As for Adam, he is a queen. He is good voice..not the greatest, but he sure is fun to watch…Wayyyy more entertaining than Clay. Adam should have won for sure!! Clay didn't watch this season so he needs to shut the hell up.

That's all I have to say about that! :)

  57. 157

Re: DanielDax – Actually Adam has admitted he is gay without saying it. He has said OPENLY that he would never try to hide who he was and in fact was seen out in public with his boyfriend. That's what you don't understand about gay people. Why should we let it define who we are? Straight people don't have to openly come out and say they are straight so why should gays?

Adam DENYING that he was gay would be a lot different. But since he kept mute about it because he did not want it to define him only makes him THAT much more professional. Clay Aiken ONLY came out after nobody was buying his music anymore and he needed to get back into the spotlight.

  58. 158

Re: Jamiii – It's because you aren't looking in the right places. There are many amazing artists out there yet you seem to only be naming people in a pop music scene? Maybe if you expanded your depth of music you'd find more talent rather than Nirvana and Jason Mraz (which is like comparing apples to oranges).

  59. 159

Clay you are an Ungrateful Douche!!

It doesn't matter what YOU think of Idol.
It changed ( improved ) your life - Say "Thanks" & let it go!!

  60. 160

Re: miss_b_haven – So because someone has been in theatre their whole life they shouldn't have a chance at American Idol? You're making absolutely NO sense. People that are talented in the musical field have participated in musical activities their ENTIRE lives! Next thing you know you'll be bitching about people being in their high school jazz band.

It would be IMPOSSIBLE to find a group of contestants that don't have some kind of exposure to the industry. If they are THAT good then they have been trying their whole lives to get recognized. I agree with you about the record deals but don't knock Adam for being on stage his whole life. Basically you want contestants who have been living under a rock for their whole lives and come out of no where with all this musical talent hoping to become the next American Idol. You'll only end up with mediocre singers at best.

  61. 161

He's just mad because his season was lame. Come on look at the top earners. Carried (who went country) Kelly the 1st winner, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, and Kellie Pickler. Hmmm anyone see any guys up there. Sure they are doing alright but they are no where near the success of these girls. Sure you have Daughtry and Cook doing okay, but then you have Taylor Hicks and Clay and Rueben and Fantasia and how many others that are just not out there anymore. My guess is Adam will do okay, but will probably hit up Broadway. Kris he will probably disappear 10 years down the road.

Who cares. So You Think You Can Dance is better anyway. At least those kids you expect to have experience and they can choreograph their own dances and take direction. American Idol is like the Olympics of Kareoke. The day they let them sing their own songs is the day I will say they have talent.

  62. 162

Clay is a loser. He's just jealous no one cares about him anymore.

  63. 163

ohmygawd i totally agree with clay
i hated when adam would do a shitty job and the judges would praise him like he was the best singer in the whole world. they only praised him so that they could get into peoples heads and make them vote for adam HE SUCKED. im glad kris won. he could actually sing! unlike stupid adam who only knew how to scream and wiggle his nasty lookin tongue.

  64. 164

What's his problem? He admits that he only tuned into the show once, so there goes his whole point. The judges "favored" Adam because up until the last couple of weeks he was the only one that was consistently amazing & pushing the boundaries. The other contestants were almost always dull & boring. And yeah–clearly American Idol shouldn't be about people who've been singing their whole lives and trying to make their dreams a reality (as Adam's been doing)–jeeez, it's not like the kid had a record deal before coming on Idol or something. You can't fault him for practicing his craft!

Clay is just being a dick. Adam's not a "real" person because he has some stage experience? Anyone in the "biz" knows that being an understudy in a musical (Adam covered Fiyero in the Los Angeles production of Wicked) is not the same thing as having professional experience as a recording artist–I have plenty of friends who've been on Broadway and it's NOT a ticket to stardom. Once your job ends, you're not guaranteed anything. It's a far leap from that to being a signed pop artist–which Clay knows. Why he would attack Adam when he didn't even watch his performances and has never met him is beyond me.

  65. 165

I think that the boy got it right. AL was/is a great theatrical singer, but the theatrics were one off from mocking rock music. That aside, it pissed me off that the judges were so intent on him being the winner that I voted for the other guy. But who cares? They both got invaluable exposure and both will have the same chance, except that the winner has to release that god awful song as a single.

  66. 166

Somebody call the WAAAAAmbulance for this epically bitter loser.

As a side note….is there seriously still a "Clay Aiken Fan Club"?

  67. 167

Talk about jealousy!Hes a bit upset that Adam may stay in the business longer than he did…..BUT he makes a valid point about this season. The judges favorited alot of people and and so many people like felicia taylor and kristin didnt even get a wild card chance…….but i cant beleive he would say adam is real untapped talent……hes just like the rest od them he started off doing theatre and now hes got his shot….fuck clay aiken…..

  68. ydur says – reply to this

    he's right

  69. 169

    Right on the money.

  70. 170

I always hate to see gay on gay hate. Bad Gayken!

  71. 171

    Re: malkovich
Thanks for your pseudo-intellectual essay on me not understanding gay people, but I would think I would know a LOT about gay people since I'm gay myself. He never openly said he was gay, but that doesn't mean he is..have you ever thought he could be bisexual? You have a habit not thinking before you write and going off the rails–it's not a pretty trait on you.

  72. 172

I agree with alot of what Clay says. The first 3 shows, most of the contestants were unpolished singers wanting a break. Now, most of the contestants have had previous record labels or experience. Then the judges are calling Adam the winner 6 weeks ago and calling him a Rock God. That turned off alot of people and America chose the underdog. Adam does not need American Idol. He could have made it big on his own. Adam could end up on broadway since his act is so glam/theater.

  73. 173

Re: DanielDax – If you read various interviews with Adam you will see that on more than one occasion he has stated his position about his sexuality without actually SAYING it. And if you're really gay than for you to say he's "obvious" gay is to buy into the gay stereotypes that float around this country. You're just adding to the crap that the gay community is trying to STOP. I played college softball and I had numerous girls on my team get upset because everyone on campus assumed they were "obvious gay" just because they played a college sport, especially softball.

Sounds like you did need a lecture of how gay people are. Maybe you should think before buying into gay stereotypes-it's not a pretty trait on you.

  74. 174

" Clay Aiken ONLY came out after nobody was buying his music anymore and he needed to get back into the spotlight."
People here in Raleigh, NC, where I've met Clay before he was on American Idol already knew he was gay. The reason why he didn't out himself earlier was because he thought it was a non-issue, and face it, once you're out in Hollywood, you're always going to referred to as that "gay actor" or that "lesbian singer." Clay never denied or affirmed it until recently; he just evaded the questions, or he answered that his personal life is no one's business. If anything, Adam had it much easier because of people like Clay being on the show.

This coming from a person who charges 30 bucks to see his website. lame. he is sinile after having that kid.

    Re: malkovich
"Sounds like you did need a lecture of how gay people are. Maybe you should think before buying into gay stereotypes-it's not a pretty trait on you."
If you're going to use my statement as a retort, at least take it further than I did, and make it at least bit more clever. If I need a lecture, I certainly wouldn't take one from you.

  77. 177

The Gayken seems awfully full of himself, doesnt he? How can he judge the ending after seeing one performance? So ignorant. Lambert can sing circles around him. Jealous much?

  78. 178

I'm not an Aiken fan…BUT…I TOTALLY AGREE WITH HIM! Glad someone can see clearly! I agree with Clay 100%

  79. 179

Umm..Adam is a closeted gay? Since when? I must've missed when he went back in. I don't think most people, including myself, cared. Though I'm NO Clay Aiken fan, I have to agree that the judges were clearly pushing Adam on the fans the whole season, calling him a "rock god" and favoring him to win (all of Hollywood, in fact). There very well could've been people who didn't vote for him becuse of this, not because he's gay. He has a LONG way to go before he's earned the title of rock god, and I'd bet he'd agree with that. I have to say that his performances with Queen and Kiss were excellent though. Although Adam is VERY talented, even if I found some of his renditions horrific, I admired him for taking the risk. It's really unfair to Kris that the media is saying he only won because of backlash towards Adam. Though he wasn't my favorite, Kris definately has talent and has the potential to make great music. Most of the top 5 do this year. It really was a matter of personal taste. I'm interested to see what Allison and Danny do also. Alexis showed awesome potential too. It was a shame they didn't use their "save" for her.

I totally agree with him! I couldn't stand adam's voice! Dan Levy did the best impression of him!

  81. 181

Adam Lambert was the best thing to happen to Idol in YEARS. Love him or hate him he was the most unique talent the show had seen. His losing just proves how all you boring ass middle americans LOVE mediocrity and are terrified of anything that challenges your safe little bubbles you live in. Whether he is gay or straight, has little to do with the fact that he has an AMAZING voice, and was visually stunning to watch. Look at every pop star who has been around for years and has become a legend. From Tina Turner, Elvis, Madonna, Cher, The Beatles, they all lasted because they were different and unique. Not because they were easily marketed to the masses. So to all you Adam haters out there, just wait until his album drops before you start judging his music. He and Kris both were talented , but Adam deserved that title more than anyone else on that show. That fact proven by him outselling all other AI artists on Itunes. So go back to your safe little God fearing bubbles and SUCK IT!

  82. 182

When Adam rocked he REALLY rocked and when he missed he REALLY missed. Simple as that. Kris Allen is cute and all, but his voice is not as powerful, but he is more marketable to AI audiences (little girls and old ladies). That's why he won. By the way is Clay Aiken even relevant anymore? Adam Lambert is still gonna get a record deal…just be happy he lost so he's not stuck on the AI label where he has to sing that crappy Kara DioGuardi song and won't be pushed and pulled…he can be himself on a different label.

  83. 183

    Re: kraze78 – SPOT ON! I agree 100%

  84. 184

For the record - plenty of people have ruined Ring of Fire over the years and Adam was just copying someone else's bad version. Johnny Cash would have gotten a kick out of it - not be rolling in his grave as some had mentioned. Johnny was always open to interpreting other people's songs as he was having someone else interpret one of his own (or June's own, in this case). People should be WAY more pissed off at how he butchered that Led Zeppelin song.

    HES RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: RpattzLambertfan
Well, you remember last year, when David Cook was performing "unique" interpretations of songs, and was getting all this praise about how to take a song and make it your own (even though some of those arrangements were just copies of arrangements that were done before, most notably "Billie Jean"). Cook eventually won, and what did he do? He released a mediocre sounding album. And I believe it was Simon, who's British by the way, and comes from a country with some of the most unique artists, who said, "it's OK to be artistic…just not on this show." I'm sure that attitude will continue with Lamberts first release, which will likely be an over-produced album with the it songwriters of the day and a bunch of dream team producers. Adam is still tied to AI, a company who wants to make money off all contestants…are they going to let him have creative control, or is he just going to be another mass-marketed former Idol contestant?

  87. 187

I agree with "her".. I just wish a better alum from AI would have said it (like Carrie Underwood)

  88. 188

Ah, Clay… that was not a wise move on your part.

  89. 189

lol Perez calling him bitchy? is like Oprah making a show on how to lose weight

  90. 190

Also, when did Clay get so damn ugly?

  91. 191

i think he is right. adam was pushed down our throats and the reality is kris was the better singer, better looking and all around better person.

  92. 192

I totally agree with him!!! I fucking can't STAND Adam Lambert! His voice DESTROYS MY EARS! He's TOO MUCH. I'm thrilled he didn't win, he didn't deserve to. He should be on a broadway stage or something, not a pop star.

  93. 193

Ring of Fire was brilliant, one of the best songs of the American Idol season. Cash would have loved the hell out of it. Clay is obviously ignorant and jealous of Adam Lambert. Hmmm….as many people…*cough**cough* Kris fans seem to be.

  94. 194

    oh OUCH:

    From the Gene Simmons website:

You rocked tonight on American Idol. Like always. U R a rock god!!!!!
If you cant can you hook Adam Lambert up with someone to get him started on the way to be another rock god like you.
My opinion is: Adam should of won American idol hands down. He is amazing. I have bought everything there is to buy of him on I tunes and I voted hundreds of times for him on Tuesday nights. actually sat here and voted and voted for hours for him.
Hope you actually get this and can send Adam somewhere he can start his rock n roll career .
Take care and big ass hugs to you, Jodie

    Response from Gene:

I don't think Adam is a rock singer. He sounds much more convincing singing ballads, and Broadway shows. His voice doesn't seem to have a "rock quality." But, I'm sure he's going to do just fine.

  95. 195

I don't think he's being bitchy at all. Sounds like he gave his honest opinion. I totally agree with him about the favoritism on AI. It's gotten completely blatant and out of control and I think Clay's right…people are sick of being told who they should vote for, who's the biggest star. I got fed up when Simon started telling contestants "I think you've just won this competition" BEFORE all the contestants had performed. That's not only unprofessional, it's rude, disrespectful, and unfair to those who have to come out on the stage after hearing that. I hope AI stops pimping the contestants they want to win and just let the American people decide for themselves who should win.

  96. 196

He might not be as successful as some other AI alums, but he has a point. I stopped watching after season 3 because of how ridiculous it was becoming, and quite frankly, have come to despise the "competition".

  97. 197

He's RIGHT on about AI going down hill. RIGHT ON.
I don't agree about the Adam thing though.

  98. 198

im sorry but i agree, im not the biggest clay aiken fan but i do agree with him.

  99. 199

Clay who? Oh I remember, it's that loser from AI! He is just pissed because he wasn't one of the awesome stars called back to perform! That hater needs to quit taking that haterade and concentrate on his career….oh that's right, what career! Clay IS a jealous biatch!

  100. 200

I AGREE with CLAY. I watched the show and Kris has a better voice and I would buy his music. There is a market for Adam's talent also his music would not be listened to by me. I wish them both well in their careers but trashing Kris the way you did, Perez, hurt Adam, not Kris. If anything made people want to hear Kris and then they voted for him. Perez, now you are trashing Clay for his honest opinion. Why did you move to America where freedom of speech is allowed if you hate EVERYONE that disagrees with you????
